Keyfob 2011
My key broke off my Keyfob, I would like to stay with switchblade FOB. Anyplace I can order and just replace the broken part?
Thanks

What broke? The key shaft or the plastic hinge or the pin just popped out?

you can order an uncut key in a fob for $15 or less on eBay or Amazon. Then take it to a dealership and have them cut the key. then put your broken key in and turn to acc, turn off, remove key then insert new cut key and turn to acc, it will say "third key learned" or something. pretty simple and under $30

Echoing the above. I got 2 new switchblade fobs for just over 20 bucks, dealer cut them for 10 each, and I programmed myself

Here is a link to the OEM switchblade, assuming you want remote start:
http://www.ebay.com/itm/Genuine-GM-C...dWIWWU&vxp=mtr This is a Strattec 5912545. Same exact part used across a lot of cars, including the 2011 Camaro and 2014 Equinox. It has not been discontinued across all Chevy models, which is why you can still buy it brand new. Be careful of the FOBs on Amazon. I did a lot of research for this recently and read through a lot of reviews in the process. Common issues include not having the Chevy logo on the back of the FOB and the "trunk" button activating unexpected features. Some of these cheaper units take the board used for the non remote start models and stick them in a remote start enclosure, apparently. Plus, the Strattec one off eBay will ship in a sealed plastic bag with a GM genuine parts sticker. My dealership explicitly said they would not cut my key until they saw this on the wrapper. They said aftermarket FOBs have too many issues. Once they saw it was a GM part and confirmed I signed the key recall waiver, they did it for free. |
