Interesting, they told me, and I quote: "and if we can conquer the V6 sound issue, we may have a kit later this year, or first part of next year."

Now I don't know what to do :(

custom job

2LT/RS

I decided that I didn't want to trash a purchased system when I put the STS system on, so I started hacking like scrming and tried staright pipes first. To raspy for my taste. Picked up a couple of Flowmaster #325108 race mufflers. We welded the 2.5 x 4 inch SS Flowmaster tips right into the mufflers and then mounted them off the last hanger. Bent up a rather tight s pipe back into the factory pipe right in front of the diff.
Every person who has heard it says it's the best sounding exhaust they've heard to date on a v6.
Shed a cumulative 30 lbs after adding the new stuff. This morning on the tollway saw a 32.4 mpg running 65 to 70 mph. Engine has 2,400 miles on it.

then an extension of that would be that pictures are useless... under or over exposed, poor color balance, uncalibrated monitors, etc. Heck. their not 3D or life size either... in fact I had no interest in the new Camaro, and I looked at a ton of pictures.... wasn't until i seen one in person was i hooked!!! LOL

yes, even with my crap built-in laptop speakers I can get an idea of which sound clips i don't like... the ones i like I listen with a good set of head phones and not the ear bud type... I find that gives me very realistic feel for my sound clips... i've made a couple... LOL

scrming is exactly right! Mikevrod, if you have the time (and a proper video recorder, digital camera, etc....) we'd all love to hear your setup. Of course we can't force ya to do somethin you may not want to do, but I know id much rather see some video than just pictures. I have a Creative pc sound setup with subwoofer, so as long as the input is captured ok...my output does great!

I've been using my Media Center PC to listen to the exhaust sounds in the videos that everyone has posted. It's hooked up to a full-on surround sound home theater receiver so audio quality is only limited by what is captured on the original camcorder.

This is the first Flowmaster install on a v6 so help us all out and get some video on Youtube for us to review.

Yes the tips look very good.
I think I like the lower rear part painted.
Do you have another photo of rear from an angle, or from farther away ?
Thanks......

PS....I only see ONE photo.......

Borla

Borla now makes a Cat back x-pipe dual exhaust for the V6 now. I ordered mine through Jegs and Borla also told me you should be able to get it through Summit Racing as well. Then you can also order directly from Borla.

Post # 36 97one asked for that shot. The sound and vid is coming. In the mean time, imagine a v8 Ferrari. That's what it sounds like.

I will be changing my exhuast from the stock, but I am completely undecided on which set up to go with.

I would like to solicit opinions of everyone here.

What I want:

1. Sound: not loud, but rather smooth deep rumble
2. HP: a little increase wouldn't hurt
3. MPG: a little increase wouldnt hurt
4. Looks: I like the larger round tips
5. Cost: I'd like to keep it well under 1K.

It'll be paired with an Airraid CAI. Any and all opinions will be heard and appreciated. Post it here or PM me.

Thanks,
MJD

One thing I found when trying to evaluate the videos.... Listen with a descent set of over the ear headphones!

Agreed...find yourself some decent headphones...either that or get yourself some nice PC sounds with a subwoofer setup.

I know it sounds silly to buy some speakers just to watch some vids...but after having my setup, I'll never go back to weak desktop speakers. Games, videos, and listening to music is so much more enjoyable. You can get a really nice sounding 2.1 Creative system for probably 50 bucks. Just my .02.

As far as exhausts , its pretty obvious that everyone's opinion on exhaust tones differs. If your looking to stay under a grand...well theres options for you, as I've noticed some of the cat-back setups have been reduced by hundreds, pushing some near or below a grand. Keep an eye on the upcoming SOLO cat-backs as well. They seem to be going for a deeper, smoother tone overall. As far as axel back, Id say hands down buddylok's setup (one of my favs) or the MRT (scrming) looks to be popular as well.

I have my Sony Noise reduction headphones and have been listening to each set listed in the first post.

Still, I'm usually never this indecisive...

I had the factory mufflers cut off yesterday and replaced with dual Flowmaster Super 40s. I would not recommend this setup. It definitely has a decent idle tone and sounds real good cruising at about 2,000 rpms but at about 4,000 rpm it made me wanna cry. So I basically lit a match to 300 bucks. I had a single dual in dual out Flow 40 on my 06 Charger 3.5L and it sounded amazing. I mean people turned heads everywhere I went with that exhaust. I thought it would be great on the Camaro but its getting cutoff next week i hope.
