I was wrong.

I know my father did not do any damage to my car probably, but he lugged the engine twice and killed it once on the very short lived drive. I was just so pissed that he could not get it down. I know that i should not be mad its just a car, but this is the first car I have had that cost this much money, its MY CAR, and I'm very paticular about it. So as a end result I guess he ruined it for everybody else because I'm not letting anybody else drive it now. Does anybody think I'm overreacting?
Yes............I think you're over reacting quite a bit. I too wish my Dad was alive to share the Camaro experience with me.:(

Wandering in on this thread a bit late. All I can say is wow... if you're this hyper-protective unreasonable with a car I hope you never attempt parenting.

He lugged the engine twice? and then killed it once? Good f'n grief. I really have no idea how to respond to this without calling you names.

Go to your dad and apologize for being a twit, then give him the keys and let him go have fun. You go find a chair in a corner and sit there for a while.

If you don't like the way people drive, then don't let people drive your car. This Camaro does drive a little different and it does take a little time getting used to the car. You can't get mad at someone when you let them drive. Just say no next time or deal with it.

Did you "lug" the motor also????

If you did, yes, Sell the Car and go sit in the corner!

I don't let anyone drive my car except for my boyfriend whom I live with. I wish my dad was still around, I would totally let him take it out on a spin. He had the 1967 fire engine red Camaro. I had my share of grinding the gears on that puppy. But I learned!

I can totally understand where you are coming from. I'm a pretty big freak over my car. I've had it for almost three weeks and I am sure it will wear off a little.

I say be protective of your car, it's yours. Make sure you only let family drive it though. I'm pretty sure they will respect your car. =)

If my parents ever ask to drive my car, I throw them the keys.

But if my brother asks, I throw a banana at him.

Can't wait to let my dad drive it and a few close buddies.

My folks live in another state...I don't get to see them as much as I'd like and as they get older, this is something I feel I will regret.

Last time I visited them was the first time they saw my car, and I let my dad take it out for a spin with me.

As he cruised around town...took it to his workplace to show off his son's car to his coworkers...really stretched her out on the highways a bit...and then, on the way back, we caught a red camaro 2ss with temp tags still on it...thumbs up were exchanged and he just wore this huge grin the rest of the day.

The smile on his face from him getting to do that is something that is far more important than any car.

We drove our brand spanking new Bonneville over to my parents house. My parents had just pulled up into their driveway. My Dad got out and banged our car with his door -- putting a nice little white ding in our two-hour old car. I rubbed it to see if the white paint would come off. Nope. I never spoke to my Dad again.

Just kidding. I blew it off. It got christened by Dad who was so excited about our new car he couldn't get out of his car fast enough. No biggie.

And I wish my parents were around to see my IOM Camaro when I get it. They would love it and be so happy.

I'm usually pretty blabby about toys I'm purchasing, but not in this case. My RJT 2 SS M6 etc... should be in my hands around the first week of November. I leave a week or so later to come back to Brazil to work for a month. This will put me home about 8 days before Christmas... Break-in time...

I have had my wife swear secrecy about this car to anyone. Why?
For all the trouble I created for my dad growing up, I am imagining the grin he will have pasted on his face on Christmas Eve when my wife and I show up at my parents house. I will ring the doorbell and just hold out the keys as he answers the door. Dad, mom, enjoy the ride, we'll be here when you get back. That grin from ear to ear, that really comes out on special occasions will absolutely be the best Christmas Gift I can ask for.

I let my Pop take my SS to work the other day.. Apparently he stalled it while showing it off to his coworkers. I got a good laugh out of it.
Like everyone else says.. Just be glad yours is still around to enjoy the Camaro with you.

I gotta tell ya, your post really cuts to the heart of it all.

Me too, although my dad taught me in a 1959 Imperial. What a barge. I promptly made a maneuver to get around a parked car, and smacked the Right Rear Passenger door on the bumper of the car I was trying to get around.

Oh Lord, I was in deep trouble. But, he just shook it off, and we went on in life. Part of the learning experience.
