The price of said "Z28" will most likely compete with its Mustang rival the Shelby GT500 bringing it in just under or around the Vette Coupe. When you look at what is available off the shelf for GM, the LSA is the most logical choice. The LSA can be had retail for $14,295.95 here http://paceperformance.com/index.asp...&ProdID=249801 The LS3 can be had for around $8,500.00 herehttps://store.gmperformanceparts.com...!--19211709--> At the end of the day this engine upgrade is going to increase the cost on the Camaro at the retail level about $8,000 - 10,000.

Here in Canada a fully dressed 2SS/RS runs around $48,500.00 (before taxes), so if the Z28 comes in around $60,000 it will be in the same ball park price wise as the GT500. The Vette coupe starts at around 80K and Z06 ....103K.
All correct except for the fact that there is a base Vette that start's at $48,000 wich would fall in that category and then the fact that the track time's of them would be close, real close.

But you're assuming that people are going to cross-shop the Z28 and Corvette. As many people have said in the past, and I was/am one of them, just because two cars have a similar price point or power output, it does not make them competitors.

While there are a lot of people on this and other performance forums who would rather buy a Corvette than a Camaro, if the price point was near the same, there are a lot more that realize that they are two completely different cars built for two different purposes. Personally, I don't think a Z28 version of a Camaro, even at close to the same price and power output, is going to cut into the sales of base Corvettes. And certainly not the Z06.

I did not buy a GT500 because I could not afford a Corvette, nor did I buy it because I thought it offered better performance. I bought it because it was the vehicle that best suited my desires/needs at this point in my life.

Seriously?, 48K, that just pisses me off even more, here are the starting prices in Canada, and 66K for the coupe gets you and engine and tires. Having said that, if the Z28 sold here in Canada for 60-65K then it would be edging in on the Vette.... entry level Vette verses top dog Camaro.

Someone with more knowledge about this please set me straight, but I thought
Hypereutectic pistons were inferior to forged pistons where higher power out-put
was concerned? That they couldn't handle some of the power add-ons as well as forged pistons could...

This is correct. But this probably doesn't come into play unless we are talking 700+rwhp.

Hypereutectics are better now, I believe. They still aren't as good as forged slugs in the LS9, but they're better than the past.

Sure will!! I didn't add it originally, because most of that info was in the writeup, but there's some things in there that wasn't mentioned.

As far as stock engines go...this thing is freaking Bulletproof. It outlived an LS9 with all it's titanium and forged whatsits by ~170 continuous hours of WOT testing. Personally, I don't ever plan to change the engine...maybe Headers, intake and a MILD tune to bump it to 600hp...and only so I can say "I have 600 hp", .

BUT, if you're into heavy modifications, then of course you have a greater concern. And so, if the LSA has a weakness for these people, it's going to be the pistons. If anybody out there with expertise in the field can comment, it would be greatly appreciated!!

Since Chevy will start building the C7 vette in 2012, I highly doubt it will have a base price of 48k. JMHO.

Seeing "what might be expected" in the Z28 is making me think twice about ordering the SS. I just wonder what the price tag will end up being after its' all said and done.
