My GT350 had a film on the front bumper and back bumper from the dealer brand new. I am not sure of what it was, but it made the white not white and looked like the bumper had been repainted badly. It sucked. I did not notice it was even there for awhile but once I noticed it, I hated it. It was like two-tone white.
So I am not going to get anything, just raw factory clear coat over factory paint for me.

I thought for a minute or two about the build list option for film for my ZL1, but it does not make sense. The material is cheaper but it is dealer installed. By that, I mean they hire someone completely out of your control to install it. You can argue the merits of Xpel or SunTek all day long but the biggest difference comes in the care during application. So will your dealer get all of the swirls and paint imperfections out before they put on the film. If not, looks like crap. Will they keep out bubbles and strange cuts? Will they take care to reduce the amount of seams. If not, looks like crap. Do they know what they are doing, or is this their second install after finishing their grandmothers Impala?
I went with Xpel and had to drive about 150 miles to have it done. Took a bus back after dropping the car off with them, and a bus to pick the car back up. Pain in the butt I know, but the results were fantastic from a company that was highly recommended. Op... it might be worth a road trip.

I can see, without film protection of any sort, at least 10 rock chips in your front fascias future in the first 10k Miles of driving! It’s silly thin paint!

I didn't know the paint protection option was dealer installed. I definitely say no to checking that option in that case. Find an independent installer.

If you were willing to come to Columbus, I recommend AAP (Automotive Appearance Pros). They did a great job on my SS 1LE.

Dealer installed probably means a local business. I haven't seen too many dealers doing clear bra.

A dealer will contract with an outside local source, 100% of the time. The only way I'd do the GM package is if the vendor they use is an authorized installer of Xpel AND MOST IMPORTANTLY, HAS DONE THE 16 CAMARO A FEW TIMES. Film installers report the Camaro one of the hardest cars to get right, I'd want to know he was not practicing on mine.

You might check this out.
It compares 3M pro, Suntek and Xpel. The key will be to get PPF installed by an EXPERIENCED factory certified installer. I'm going to get mine done right after delivery. Sticky tires = paint chips. |
