Ha! here's the irony.....the tree huggers don't want nuclear because you can't get rid of the spent fuel and have to store it underground. Guess what? you can't get rid of the lithium batteries either! The materials in them when mixed with water turn to acid and contaminate the ecosystem! So they're gonna have to be stored somewhere as well

Dump your cable or satellite TV. You'll save about $100 or so a month. Roll that money into your fuel budget. Now instead of watching endless commercials during reruns of Honey Boo-boo or Rupaul's Drag Race you can head out to the garage and spend some quality time with your Camaro.

Smh, I guess I'm fortunate enough to not have to worry about cost - I'll just drive a little less, use my winter beater a lot more which gets almost 30 mpg, or I'll rearrange some bills. I won't get into an economics argument but the issue isn't cost - it's supply, which there seems to be plenty of given there's no gas lines or stations shutting down. So long as it's available, I'm good. Fortunately people can't hoard gas like they did toilet paper at the beginning of the pandemic - never understood the run on it - but I made it through it ok since I decided to just poop less.

Don't have it to dump. Huge waste of money. I've never used UberEats or similar, either. People waste so much money on things that just don't improve their life significantly.
Paying off my mortgage would cost me money. I think we've discussed it before, but with tax benefits my mortgage is about 2.5% interest rate (we get a reduction in income tax and property tax while having a mortgage). I'm making over 8% on very safe bonds at the moment. |

I-bonds. You can buy $10k a year, $20k for a married couple. They pay a fixed rate + a variable rate that is tied to inflation. Current variable is 7.12% but the fixed portion is 0%. You could potentially be making over 10% depending on the fixed rate when you bought, but mid 8's is the best I personally have.

no loans is the best way for me..sleep like a baby knowing no banks can come looking for their house or car.
peace of mind should i get seriously ill our home is safe. HATE HAVING DEBTS. all the time you're in debt you're a slave to that person. some of my work mates think they own their houses lol..i say to them stop making mortgage payments and you'll see real quickly who really owns your house

Even when your house is paid off, stop paying your property taxes and you’ll find out who still owns it… hint hint… it ain’t you. I agree; debt free is always the best way to be but don’t think for a minute you actually own it, big brother government ALWAYS gets his share one way or the other.

not so here in sweden. property tax is almost nothing and taken at source.
best thing we ever did was to pay off the house. we save about 5000 usd each month. whatever happens in the economy we're 99% safe. wife is a specialist nurse and will never be out of work
