The shape makes 0 difference as long as the length is correct. I did the U shape because with MRT2.0 that's all I could fit underneath.

Also V8's resonate at different freq's then our LLT's. So the pipe will be a different length.

I don't recall any cracking sound, even with stock mufflers.

I never had a crackling while accelerating.

But there is some cracking or poping when you decelerate while in gear. It was always there but now since the drone is gone you hear more of the exhaust tone and pops/crackles. Pretty common on straight through mufflers like the MRT2.0.

It happens mostly when you decel in 2nd gear or downshift into 2nd from 3rd and your foot is off the gas.

Are you sure the pipes have proper clearance from the body of the car and the suspension? It's all pretty tight up there.

Yeah the LS3 has alot of decell popping with the outlaws. The res x pipe and J pipes calmed it down but still there. Probably what you are hearing.

Any small seep holes in the welds or clamps will cause some of this also. Look at welds and around clamps, if you see any black residue, you have a leak there.

Since the MRT's are made of 304 stainless are you guys using stainless steel piping for the helmholz? I guess I'm going to order the stainless j's and use stainless filler rod on the welds. I don't want rust later. Mines a daily driver so the liquid salt in the winter could be a detriment. I'm also wondering about using sharper bend radius would affect the performance. Does pipe diameter make any difference? I have 2" ss pipe falloff at work that I can get for free and can buy 90 degree elbows. My drone comes at highway speed @ about 1900-2000 rpm. Thanks to everyone who has come before to do the r&d legwork.

My shop used aluminzed pipe as stainless is to hard to bend as he doesnt have the prper equipment like a big company would. In Ca weather its not a problem. He just bent the pipes with a regular bender and all good.No performance gain or loss I know of, does the job of killing the drone.vepipes 2.25" so your 2" I think would be right.

Not that it matters now because I bought a 2SS but mine never got better after even a year. This pipe stuff is facinating though. My drone was so bad that I finally put the stock ones back on. Great to see all the knowledge out there though. Bill
