Hi Those numbers are not very impressive. Not bashing, just letting you know that's not a lot of power. GM sold a 2.0L inline four a couple years back that made 260 bhp and 260 lb/ft, from the factory with a torque curve as flat as a board: the LNF. With a factory upgrade that only cost 600 bucks, you could retain your full warranty and have the engine provide 290 bhp and 340 lb/ft of torque. That's an example of how a turbo four banger could make power four years ago. If you like the new Bug, great, but don't become entranced with the power it offers. That's fairly crummy output in the 21st century, when we can have variable vane turbos, variable valve timing, etc. I would classify that output as 'anemic'. If it makes 200 hp after it was turbocharged, the engine must be quite a disappointment without it

STOP THE VIOLENCE! Little brothers and sisters everywhere will appreciate your Camaro much more than they will getting slugged by their older siblings because you chose the Beetle!
We had two first gen New Beetles...a '98 2.0 and a 2006 2.5. Other than feeling like I left my testes in the underwear drawer every time I drove it, they were both TRANSPORTATION with a flower vase. Dealer oil changes and service were expensive for an economy car by anyone's standards.

There are other better looking cars for the same price range that would be faster than your current Camaro, even a 2012 v6 Camaro.... From what I have read new VWs as a whole have a lot of issues, if you trade for any Beetle wait a year and get one of the roadsters they are coming out with.

As a former VW owner...DONT DO IT!!! VW makes some of the largest turds rolling on the road. They are one of the worst rated for problems with all of their car models. As a mechanic and from every other mechanic I know they would never own a VW.

Not sure how you could even consider it but to each his own.
Oh, and I looked up the specs...it runs a low 6 second 0 - 60 and a 15 or so second quarter mile. Definitely NOT faster.

I was coming home from work Thursday and I kept hearing a sweet sounding car. Ended up being this dude in a jetstream blue like 2000ish Beetle. Looked to be lowered a bit, had some cool wheels, definitely a manual, and the Flowmaster stickers in the windows explained the good sound. I was thinking chic car or not, I'd rock that baby! Pretty sweet! (Just stick a fuel injector in the flower holder)
