Knock is always one of the things I have on display when I have a scan gauge. "knock on wood" (I know, I'm hilarious), I haven't had a single degree of knock on my LS3. I think the sensors are less sensitive than the LT1 days, but being supercharged I don't like to mess around.

100 unleaded is a pretty penny, but I get a little MPG and the piece of mind is well worth it imo.
I dunno what knock I get if any and im not supercharged but I do know that the early 5th gens had problems with knock sensors being overly sensitive, this can also be adjusted...

I need to find 100 just to try once.

Honestly, if you're not boosted I wouldn't waste the money. And I say this from first hand experience.

I threw a bit of 100 in my cammed LT1, and my head/cam LS1 just to give it a shot. Didn't notice any bit of difference whatsoever.

However, if you find a station that has it, and you do get some bad gas somewhere else at some point, then adding a couple of gallons of 100 is worthwhile.

I have a 2011 SS Supercharged L99 and just recently I have been hearing a little knock. I'm not sure if it is the shit they put in the gas for winter or what. I always use Shell or Sunoco. The Shell I use has race gas and I thought about putting a gallon of it in but I was told it isn't a good idea.

I used to have a turbo GTI and if I filled up with anything besides shells, my total mileage before the gas light goes on drops from 340 to 300 or so....very very noticable. Not sure why it was either.

Who told you it wasn't a good idea and why? If your car is already tuned for a specific octane setting, adding more octane serves as a safety net. This is especially true on a supercharged car. There is nothing wrong with adding a higher octane as long as you don't further modify your tuning to continously adjust for that octane.

Did the person who tell you this assume it was leaded race gas? If so, that is correct. Never use leaded race gas. It will destroy you're O2 sensors.

Better gas = more accurate octane rating. High octane = slower burning. Therefore, higher octane gas should generally give a better MPG rating.

That's what I thought too but I used to strictly fill up with 76 or Chevron also and never used Shells. I would say 76 and Chevron are both top tier gas too.

But I do have a friend that has a turbo 4 with a lot of modifications and had crazy knocking issues with shell gas. It got better when he used Chevron.

I wouldn't purchase gas from a Shell station if my car was on E and no other station in site for another 100 miles!!! See this thread http://www.camaro5.com/forums/showthread.php?t=190849

I got watered down gas from Shell last year.

I didn't buy it for good gas mileage, but I like Sunoco 93 or 94.

There are some great "top tier" fuels but my Camaro only see's Shell as it is consistant/reliable state to state.

Shell 93 in all my cars. I use Chevron and Sunoco 93 too if available.
