I think you are confusing allocation and "on a list"

I say we take a convoy of Canadians who want a ZL1 over to the Oshawa plant and "detain" a few of the ZL1's destined for the USA.........we do make the car after all

Buy it in New York, float it over the falls, and pick up in Ontario. Make sure to insure it to the hilt!!

Hehe.. sounds like a plan. Funny thing is I just confirmed what i wanted option wise with my dealer. He will be punching in the order on Sat. They don't seem to think there will be any probs getting one.

I agree with most of your other points, but this one is a little suspect. I don't really think March will be warm enough for these cars, first off. Secondly, I ordered my car when you finally could in Canada and mine was made in the first Month of production.

It was then subsequently held up in quality control for a month and a week, due to the battery cable issue and a few other 'starting production glitches.' There is no guarantee that something like that couldn't happen to the first run of ZL-1's. In my case, there were cars made 3 weeks after mine showing up in the dealership before mine because it was caught in QC limbo.

I guess the point I am trying to make is that shit happens, and if you wanna flip flop all over the place, more power to you, but it just seems a little excessive

GM can sort out the distribution however they like. Just because the Americans get to place their orders first doesn't mean that they'll get their cars a month earlier.

2) Yes I want one asap, winter is no big deal here. Its t-shirt weather right now, and all I gotta deal with is a little rain over the winter anyway.
I forgot ... BC ... nvm

3) The point is not that I can't wait, its that I'm angry for the second class treatment for Canadian buyers on the orders for no reason at all. We have to pay more for the damn things for no reason , then to add more insult we have to wait to order. The %@~*& factory is in Canada..Why can't there be a level playing field for customers. Its not like we live in Russia and there is a shipping issue.
We should feel lucky they treat us as a 2nd class market, because we rank between Brazil and Uzbekistan in Chevrolets global sales. We pay more because the loonie isn't tied directly to the US dollar, which means pricing does not fluctuate with the exchange rate. We pay Canadian prices for products in Canada based upon the market conditions unique to the country. The factory is in Canada because Canadian labour is generally cheaper than American labour, and possibly because of an agreement made with the CAW regarding the previous Camaro plant in Quebec. That said ... we do get hosed on the destination charges. The vast majority of the population is based around a single rail line, shipping costs and logistics should be pretty simple

Its discrimination on both counts any way you look at it, its not fair, and it pisses me off. I put my deposit down back in August, and some dude who just read about it Friday can walk into a dealership in the US on Saturday and get a ZL1 before I do. Nothing against the US guy who is buying the car, but I think sales of such a car should be done on a level playing field.

A 'level' playing field you say ... is that why you placed a deposit months before anyone could order the car? Sounds like you were trying to buy your way to the front of the line, which doesn't sound particularly fair to me. I don't really care that you did it, but I'm just trying to point out that what seems fair to you may not seem fair to the guy that waits for your dealership to open the first day they officially start taking Canadian orders only to find out you took his spot months ago

Everybody up here gets all in a knot when its mentioned we will just head south for our GM vehicles, but Its GM themselves that force that decision. Yes I could head south and buy one, but if it comes to that I'm jumpin ship on principal, not that I don't like the car, but I'm not supporting the discrimination.
Chances are, you're going to have to wait a lot longer than a month if you try and get a car from the states. They won't just be sitting around on lots waiting for a Canadian to come by with a $50,000 cheque in hand ...

ok..good points in all...but If Disno is correct, how can our dealers order without allocation?.
I am not flip flopping, I want a ZL1 that is obvious, but I guess I'm dissapointed in the whole program. I don't understand the split allocation date. If you have a number for each country for allocations, why wait till the US orders are in to give Canadian allocation unless the purpose is favoratism.

For the number of Canadians buying, which I'm sure isn't a lot. it seems they should give us allocations at the same time.

Anyway.. there's nothing I can do about it I just wanted to spout off and have a little tantrum....

I'm not confusing the terms at all. Since I'm in sales myself.
