I've heard plenty of people saying they like a V6 mustang more than the V6 camaro.

Personally I'm a big fan of buying a 'muscle' car and getting the V8 no matter what, but that's not everyone's beliefs.

It goes into price and what not. Like for me, insurance and gas is not worth it. I will admit, stock wise, mustangs sound better, but v6 camaros were faster than pre-2010 Gt mustangs. I, personally, would take a Genisis over a mustang.

Oh boy, stock for stock, the 2005-2010 Mustang GT is quicker than a stock Camaro V6 with equal drivers by a decent margin, a 99-04 Mustng GT is a good race.

My camaro beat a 2010 Gt at a track. They're only running around 316 hp

You beat a driver., they have more torque and are lighter. As I said, equal drivers, Mustang gets the win. 2010 GTs were capable of mid 13s.

2010 should win. 2009 GTs are running 300 hp with the smart 4.6 ontop of that the torque is killed by their heavy live axle. Every camaro I've seen race a mustang wins off the line because of that. Rolling live axle is great. Dead stop, not so much.

What happened to Hyundai's being the cheapest in their class ? They are now the most expensive.
New marketing strat I guess. While they aren't bad cars anymore, I think they are still a bit over priced.

If the Camaro weighed what it should weigh (A V6 in the 3,400 to 3,500 lb or less range.) it would be putting the Mustang V6 in its place and running right a long side the new Genesis.

The LFX has amazing potential..with the ability to add somewhere around 40+ HP with just a tune and an intake/exhaust, that would be killer in a 3,400 lb car.

Hopefully the 6th gen will take us there.
+ The LLt and LFX are great engines. Nissan's VQ was considered one of the best V6 engines ever made and made Ward's top ten list a lot. It was 3.5 liters and only made 255. Even with every bolt on imaginable you could barely make 300 crank EST.

A 3.6L making 312 is great and bolt ons can net you conservatively around 330 Hp. Very impressive...

We just need to get that weight down.

All these other v6s are getting beefy each year.
Agreed but don't get it twisted, the 2010 V6 Camaros were one of the fastest new cars you could buy for the money when they first came out. Everyone has caught up...

When they came out, don't forget the V6 Stang had 200 HP LOL and it was and still is a driver's race with the pre 5.0 GTs.

Yeah my point exactly though. As for v6's the Genesis is the fastest (aside from a gtr and what not) but looks I still give it to the camaro.

Yeah? That dude needed a driver mod then.

The cars are lighter with more torque, they should be faster. HP isn't everything.

Neither is torque. And they're both automatics. Press the peddle and go.

Torque is generally a more accurate measurement of the power of a gasoline engine and is the more important number.

Stock and equal driving skills, the 5th gen Mustang GT (4.6L) should be able to beat out a 5th gen Camaro (V6 - LLT or LFX). Note: the 2005-2009 GTs had 300hp + 320tq while the 2010 GT had 315hp + 325tq. That torque advantage is key and surely helps the GT.

Back to topic... even though the 3.8L Genesis may perform better, I'd still take a Camaro V6 over any of the Genesis variants anyday anytime. The Camaro styling IMO wins hands down even when compared to the restyled 2013 Genesis models.
