You really need to run the new fluid thru 2 changes to get all of it out of the radiator cooling lines. But it did get allot better with my Redline change over stock. Should be allot better after next change.

Gentlemen I appreciate your comments and suggestions to Jay.

We spoke directly with Redline oil company tech, on this very subject.

Redline MTL is a direct replacement for ATF or light weight Red Manual transmission fluids used in modern manual transmissions.

Redline MTL is an acceptable fluid for this application and has been our go to oil for poor shifting Borg Warner and Tremec transmissions for over 20 years.

I use it in all of my cars for at least as long.

The results are always the same, WOW.

If you are not satisfied in any way I will be happy to give you the fluid of your choice.

MTL and D4 are both GL-4 fluids and are safe for your Transmissions.

Ted.

Well according to my conversations with red line, d4 is the direct replacement for the tr6060. Interesting. How about getting tremecs recommendation of running 75-80 in their gear box they designed?

And MTL is not recommended because it's a gear oil, by design it does not allow contact between surfaces. The tr6060 synchros by design rely on friction to work properly which is why tremec uses atf fluid.

Gear Oil is GL-5.

MTL is GL-4, it's Red and has the consistency of AFT.

Lol that still doesn't make it an atf equivalent. I'll go with what Redline told me and what tremec recommends. Thanks though.

Just out of curiosity how many others on here are running mtl long term? Maybe you can convince me otherwise?

Your right it may not meet the needs of an Automatic trans but it meets the needs of Manual transmissions that use ATF.

I am certainly not trying to convince you what fluid you should run.

What every you like is Perfect as long as it meets the minimum recommendations of the manufacturer.

In truth most oils far exceed minimum requirements.

The G rating on the oil determines what family of oils are interchangeable.

You certainly don't want to put GL-5 in, that is for Hypoid Differentials and Old Gear boxes, which is the MT-90

D4 and MTL are Both G-4 Oils.

I have been running MTL oil in Borg Warner and Tremec Transmissons for over 20 years and No issues what so ever.

Ted.

All I know is that the mtl definitely smooths out the shifts. 2nd to 3rd was knothcy and now it isn't. The consistency isn't like heavy gear oil it is more like atf and like Ted said it is red in color. I am no chemical engineer but it seems to work quite a bit better then what was in there.
