I think I recall JRE saying that the OEM cats-pipes really start retaining heat, and that heat starts working it's way back toward the exhaust ports. Then, you have to start pulling timing because that heat start affecting the combustion chambers.
Just passing along what I've read.

Yep...and the pipe itself before going into the actual converter necks down to under 2" in diameter. You can still make power on stock exhaust you just have to be careful. Mike Sitar went high 9's on 100% stock exhaust.

The hp gains from LT headers have been discussed here extensively. It's agreed to be one of the best early mods. +20 hp is probably a reasonable figure.

Ok excellent
Supercharged setups produce alot more heat Next question is would headers make you lose any boost ?

[QUOTE=asthmamax11;11222307]Ok excellent

The less restrictions the engine has, the less boost it reads on a boost guage. Boost is not "lost" after headers, the engine is simply no longer as restricted as it was before the headers. |

So turning boost back up to pre headers level would require more fuel ?

[QUOTE=asthmamax11;11222402]Actually, your boost number can go down with the headers and you might need MORE fuel anyway. Best description I’ve seen describes boost as “unused air”. So with headers your engine will become more efficient and use more air which would require more fuel. Hope that makes sense.

Loss of boost does not mean a loss of power if flow and and efficiency increased.

Yup pretty basic. You could have 100psi through a 1” orifice and 10psi through a 4”. (I’m throwing numbers out). Airflow and fuel requirements could be the same.

The engine is just an air pump and greater volume per ms equals more power. We probably need a new thread for this topic though.

No, I am going with Offroad 2" Longtubes into stock non npp suitcase muffler. I would not know about the volume increase of a primary only removal, but that sounds logical.
