I did the CHE kit. The V2 kit also looks very good. Stay away from comp cams. I can tell you there are 33 needles per side on the stock ones. I don't believe yours are stock though as your needles are longer than the stock ones it looks like. Stock length is .240"

Is it free play that causes this? I have my valve covers off right now and visually nothing looks wrong. But some rockers have a bit more side to side free play than others.

The cap usually comes loose or breaks and that's what lets the needle bearings out. You are probably just feeling the normal play on the ones that the lifter is on the base of the cam and not on the lobe holding the valve open. There will be some play on the ones where the valve is closed.

Anyone who has the original Comp Cams Trunnion so called "upgrade" needs to get them out before this happens to them. Mine failed at 4000 miles but I caught it before the needles came out.
I still got alot of fine metal particles in my filter. I was pissed.
I am now running bushings.

If my OEM bearings are fine, there's no reason to change them out right?

What kind of life would you expect out of the bushings?

OEM have been known to fail but not nearly as bad as the Comp Cams crap.

I am expecting the bushings to last a long time but time will tell.

Yeah I have had a hard time finding any info on expected lifespan for the bushings, regardless of manufacturer. Maybe that is a good sign.

I haven't put mine back together yet because I'm still deciding if it's worth the effort to switch them out. Bright side of being stuck at home is that we can get by without the Camaro on the road for a week or so.

A lot of the wear has to do with the surface area.
The solid bushing has a massive amount of contact area compared to the needle bearings so the pressure is spread out.
I mean, if they use similar technology and they work on connecting rods and main bearings they gotta work in a rocker arm.

Terry, if you're all stock you'll probably be ok. But its a good upgrade. Btr V2 or CHE would be my choices. I went with CHE but before i saw the V2s i like the design of the V2 a little better probably more longevity out of them.

The main reason I didn’t go with the bushings is I felt the oil had a harder time getting to and staying on the wear surfaces. I didn’t want to change bushings every 10-15k miles

Well i will be inspecting them after 20-25k miles when i have to do springs again. That will be in probably 3 years tho, so we'll see.
