Well first off....you should just ground yourself, and just be happy if the car runs smoothly. Based on the past attempts...cams have NEVER been easy on this car. Don't be to concerned with sheer HP right off the bat. The cams may not make a ton of power.

Next, when you do get the car finished, and the dyno run complete, try not to get hung up on 300 HP. If your car puts down 280 or 290 that is still a HUGE jump over the 250 rwhp your car put down originally. Sadly we will not know how much of that was due to your cams only, and how much might have been due to new timing chains.

(by the way...does anyone have any idea how much power can be robbed by stretched chains on the LLT????)

Lastly, as Jason pointed out before, it looks like you car was dyno'd on a Mustang dyno. Ever dyno is different, but these tend to read lower than say a Dynojet dyno. You might only put down so much on this dyno, but if you have another shop near you that uses dynojet, you may put down more on that one. You should ask the tuner if he has ever had a completely stock Camaro automatic or manual on the dyno and what they put down.

I would be shocked to see you hit 300 on this dyno, but I hope I'm wrong

+1 On most of what KMP said...

Not to rain on your parade, but I'm seriously wondering if you REALLY needed the timing chains replaced at all? Sure they had 70k miles on them, but aside from your "tuner" telling you the numbers were low because of the chains, did you experience any other issues, or drive-ability problems?

Every dyno is different, you can run on 10 different dynos, and probably see 10 different results. If you look at the LLT dyno page, there are modded guys running on mustang dynos showing 20hp less than you, and there are guys with way less mods thank you running on a Mustang dyno have show 20-30hp more. Dynos, weather, location, climate, correction factor, too many variables.

I really hope all this works out for you, and my fingers are crossed you meet your goals. I don't know your whole timing chain situation, but I just kinda have this feeling that you got taken on the timing chain thing.

Here's a guy with "full bolt ons" and a tune, running on a Mustang dyno that pretty much matched the number you put down (see pic below)...

Take what I say with a grain of salt.

Yes when I would floor it there wouldn't be any power until VVT kicked it around 4000rpms and it never did that before I looked up the code it was throwing and people on this site said timing chain and when we took the car apart the timing wasn't even close to lining up I honestly Dont care about crazy HP I just always wanted to do the cams and I want to dyno again on a dynojet they have another dyno where they take off your wheels and do it that way which is cool I'm not sure what power it will make but I think with the timing chain done it will be a big difference from what it was before only time will tell and I'm still waiting on thw phone call to come pick it up

Mace told me directly that I should not have a issue with drivability or tuning them and I could go a month or two with out a tune if I stay below 4000rpms but I'm just hoping everything goes well I trust my mechanic he hasn't let me down yet if its all good I hope to pave the way for more V6 sleepers in the future you don't always need 8 cylinders to have fun

Are you tuning today, or waiting to schedule an appointment?
