If I had said a guy with a CAI ran 11.6 how do you get factory running in the nines, it doesn't make sense. I agree stock vs. stock is the only fair comparison, my point being it wouldn't take GM much to get there. Oh by the way, 10.8 on slicks is a modded car.
I know a slick is a mod and Dodge made that very clear. They also made it clear that the 11.2 is bone stock and it's NHRA certified to be so. My point is that people will mod Challengers and go much faster too. So who cares. Anything can be made to go faster. The impressive thing here is that Dodge has the balls to do it and allow anyone with the means to own one. It amazes me as someone who use to build motors years ago. To get seven hundred HP back in my day you didn't run on pump gas, you weren't streetable and you wouldn't pass an emissions test or a gas station of VP. These are times I could have never imagined.

^ This, I remember when 1 horse per cube was doing good, and that got you around 10-12mpg.

Since when did the hellcat run on a "slick"? Last time i checked a slick is DOT approved. Nor is it called a drag radial. There is a HUGE difference. The hellcat ran on a radial not a slick. Anyone who argues they are the same hasnt spent much time drag racing.

Also whats the point in talking heavily modified cars? Both platforms have gone 7's...

Stock vs Stock the ZL1 cant mess with the Hellcat in the 1/4. Just as the Hellcat likely wont mess with the ZL1 in the turns.

Sorry just using slick in a general term meaning they didn't use the stock tires, a lot of people think the 10.8 is official.

The 10.8 is 100% official. On drag radials as stated. NHRA certified to be exact. Doesnt get more official than that.

I could see if hey were only touting the 10.8 without any mention of aftermarket tires being used but that isnt the case. They made it clear, 11.2 stock tires, 10.8 drag radials.

I hope people in here can understand. I know I do.

True. Most tracks understand the fact that cars today come with insane amounts of power, along with 5+ airbags, crumple zones, abs, stability control, traction control, etc. They also understand that a guy with a new $120,000 ZR1 'Vette isn't exactly welcome to the idea of putting a rollcage into his brand new car.

IF you leave the car bone-stock, you won't have a problem. You'll be asked to wear a helmet, and that's about it. BUT, as soon as you start modding the car in any way shape or form, don't be surprised if you get the boot, without the same safety gear that the older cars are running.

You do understand the difference between a car that runs 12.1 @ 117mph versus one that does 11.2 @ 125mph, right? That CAI only ZL1 you speak of trapped what maybe 118mph. Just for comparison the 13/14 GT500 is NHRA rated at 11.6 @ 125.7mph on stock tires.

So anyone with a ZL1 better stick to comparing ring times.

You are missing my point, I am saying in the future I believe gm could match or exceed those results if they want to.

The thing is there cant be very many "bolt on's" that can added to the car. Think about it. Its making 707 HP. Most of the things people would bolt on a car to get more HP are already done from the factory! I'm sure there will be a few parts that can possibly be "upgraded" but how much remains to be seen!
