I'd speak with your local dealer to get there opinion. That's what I did. They have never seen a warranty claim denied because of a tune. One suggestion from them was to reflash back to stock if there was a software upgrade.

You lose the warranty when the modifications you have made can be 100% verified to have been the sole cause of the failure. For instance, if you change the rear end, and you throw a rod, they will still replace the engine as the new part did not cause the failure. They of course will not replace your rear end if you swap it out. There is so much argument with this topic all the time. There is even the exact legal reference of your rights as a consumer and owner about your right to modify. Just know what you are getting yourself into by changing components.

yes but if you change your intake and the motor fails they can blame the intake for the motor failure and refuse the warranty same thing if you change the tune on the motor. If the motor fails then the burden of prof is on you to prove that your modification did not cause the failure. Have fun taken that to court and fighting their lawyers.

This is true. Best practice is to be upfront with the dealer about the retune if warranty work is needed. If GM feels the failure is due to the retune, they will
deny the work. But, if you feel it is unrelated, you could argue. It all depends on how much energy you have to fight. But, the full factory warrant is not automatically voided due to a retune. If they find you retuned the car and were not honest about it, they will start off very suspicious, which does not help your case.

Get the gears installed however you have planned, then visit the dealership to have the spedo recalibrated. That's what I did with my Silverado after I lifted it and added 35" tires...It cost me like $150, and didn't void the warranty. Also, for install pricing at a dealership, shop around, dealer shops will compete and if you get a decent price, it will not void your warranty.

...and then have your car's VIN tagged as "true miles unknown" by GM...in that case, good luck ever selling/trading it...
