YES - I would buy it - but as others have said it REALY REALLY REALLY needs to be the Z28. Anything else would be a huge marketing error.

Forgot to add..

I'd want a race car that just happens to be street legal.. Not a performance coupe that just happens to be decent on a track.

...but that's just me..

If it's going to be pushed, built and sold as a road racer, it shouldn't look and feel like a luxury coupe on the inside.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

If I haven't purchased my SS already and this car was around the 40-45k range, I would have seriously considered it. It just can't have the weight that it does now and all the useless anemities.

Camaro 1LE Concept

Born in the Camaro’s third generation and refined further in the fourth generation as a road-racing performance package, the legendary 1LE option code designation returns to the Camaro as a concept intended to carve up road courses. While only a concept, it borrows production components from both the Camaro SS and forthcoming Camaro ZL1 to deliver a competition-ready package. Hash mark graphics on the front fender are pure Chevrolet racing cues, too.

Vehicle highlights:

■Victory Red exterior color, with flat black hood and hash mark extensions
■Satin black splitter, rocker panels, rear spoiler and outside mirrors
■Sport suspension featuring Magnetic Ride Control
■Electric power steering
■Six-speed manual close-ratio transmission
■Lightweight 20x10-inch (front) and 20x11-inch (rear) racing wheels (satin black)
■Goodyear® Eagle F1 Supercar G asymmetrical tires (from the ZL1)
■Brembo® six-piston front calipers, with two-piece front rotors, and four-piston rear calipers (Chevrolet Official Licensed Product)
■Dual exhaust outlets with ZL1-style active exhaust and diffuser
■Shock tower brace
■Chevrolet Accessories red engine cover
■Black leather interior with Light Stone stitching
■Graphite Silver door and instrument panel inserts
■ZL1 shifter with Light Stone stitching
■ZL1 flat-bottom steering wheel
■Chevrolet Accessories pedal kit
“The Camaro 1LE concept is all about the track,” said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer for the Camaro. “It’s an all-out race car package that pays tribute to that special option from the past.”
I would buy but nothing under 670 hp - 640 tq

I think that is a great idea and there will definitely be a demand for the car. My only suggestion would be to pump up the HP to the 450/460 range with a 'GM Hot Cam' or maybe the better airbox from the ZL1. But yes, build this car !!!

If I'm thinking of all the LS3 optional crate engines listed on GMPP that would up the power output...then yes build it and call it the Z28. Still think an LS7 would be better recieved by the market.

1LE is just the concept name. I don't make the decisions but I wouldn't get too attatched to that name. They also had an LS7 concept and if it were to be produced I doubt they would name a car after an engine.

Nice concept. Very interesting take on what could be a middle ground between the SS and ZL1. any chances of a power increase to reflect that mid point? Something along what the Blue Ova guys did with the Boss 302? This, to me would put it over the top.
