Any cleaner will take wax off, clay bar is abrasive, but may not pick up all wax, if you really want to start fresh, then Id still use a good cleaner and clay it.

Dish soap may be a tad harsh on vinyl stripes, but even car shampoo that "wont strip wax" will strip wax if you use enough of it, its only rated to be easier on wax if use the 1 oz per gallon of water or whatever it is diluted.

I personally use an autowash that is citrus based to clean off old wax and then I will clay. I use it every time I wash the car on the nose to be sure Im getting all the bugs off, then I re-wax anywhere the cleaner went.

But theres millions of diff products to use and w/e you prefer is cool

I spent my day doing much the same thing and my hands are so sore, but the results are worth it! Your car looks amazing and your dog looks a lot like my dog (a malamute). So worth all that hard work to see the amazing results.

Once that was done let it sit for a while since I had to go walk my dog and I came back and did surf city garage wax. Yet again buffed and shined. All of this was done by hand so I'm feeling it my arms. For the stripes like I said I used mothers back to black and the tires I used wet n black from turtle. That about sums it up. I can take a picture of all the products. I believe autozone or advanced is now carrying their products. They are pricey though. Not as much as Adams but more than normal.

Wow.... 6 hours?
