I am not sure but I think the SLP pipes are 3'' with a 4'' tip. Your local shop will probably run 2.5'' pipe for a easy conection.

I usually agree with your statements Blur... but this one I'm not so sure on.

The consumer can almost always force a company to lower prices. By making other consumers aware of ridiculously inflated prices, a company will either have to lower their prices to remain competitive or make an alternative product.

Basic capitalism.

It's that same reason your Camaro costs like $10K in actual materials, but sells for much more.

But to say your Boycotting SLP...not sure why...just don't buy that one part if you think it is overpriced.
I agree. SLP has great customer service and will stand behind anything they sell. $400 isnt much for it either. The SLP exhaust system may be $400, but you are paying an extra $400 for 2 real mufflers with the GMPP system. $200 a muffler...

Not many shops, at least in my area, mandrel-bent exhaust, let alone stock stainless pipes. Figure about $40 per tip, $15 per clamp, and I can see that price go up pretty quick. Also, they probably have an engineer figure out how to configure the jigs for the pipe benders; getting engineers involved is never cheap.

I can see what you're saying, but considering what many people are already paying for other axle/cat'-backs, it doesn't seem out of line to me. The statement regarding "Corvette Tax" applies to so many things; possibly, this is one of those situations.

I think one can, at least, rest assured that paying this much for this type of exhaust will mean it'll fit like a glove.
Very well put

This thing should be costing 150-200 max!

To give perspective, you could get this same thing done at a custom exhaust shop for probably less than that (and that includes labor).

Last time I checked this is a free market. They can sell at whatever they feel they can. This is available much cheaper elsewhere. Show your displeasure by buying elsewhere. Capitalism, free markets and competition works. There is nothing that even comes close.

I was one of the first to get a new body style 2005 Mustang GT and I ordered SLP's for only $224.00. That even seemed high to me for straight pipes back then.

Since we're bringing back zombie threads, I'll further my discussion here. The reason a boycott won't work is that other products by this company will continue to sell even if no one buys this one. As a group, we can make many prices drop by not buying, but it is doubtful that we will be able to get SLP to do so. They'll probably pull a Fesler-Moss and charge even more, calling it a premium product. SLP is a recognized and respected brand that will get sales because people know who they are, just like K&M or Shelby, even if their products don't perform on the same level as a manufacturer like Magnaflow.

Its a john deere.....paying for the green color. Is the SLP stamp worth the money. It's like NASCAR do you buy based on your drivers sponsor? Many do. I opted for my muffler shop doing a muffler delete with x pipe and buying a Roto Fab fresh air intake. Now I have two mods instead of one and very well satified with both for about the same cost as the SLP setup

I used to buy slp parts for my 1998 ss. When they made lids and catbacks for cheaper than their competitors that netted the same results. Now that they think they are the shit they increased prices on dumb things and came out with really really stupid ideas.

Hence them selling the pontiac G8 Firehawk.

Hows that working out for ya SLP? LOL.
