Well, I think what maybe is not being discussed here is that 87mm snout opening can flow more airflow than an 87mm throttle body. Remember that your throttle body has a blade thickness, it rarely opens perfectly perpendicular even at 100% WOT, plus the thickness of the shaft! Those three items combine to take up a surprisingly big chunk of what we're considering to be the "same size" opening. So just because the TB is 87mm does NOT mean it flows enough air to satisfy an 87mm snout in my humble opinion.

The LT4 opening is indeed 87mm, but the o-ring flange is another 3.6mm all the way around. So you could easily take another 2mm off all the way around, that gets you a 91mm snout opening and still keep the stock o-ring. You could also ditch the o-ring altogether and use RTV to seal the TB, and get to 95mm snout opening really easily (or maybe even 103mm or so if you wanted to, which is really overkill IMO).

So, I will probably port my snout to 91mm, which probably flows similar to the 95mm TB once you factor in the blade and shaft. Just my random thoughts on the matter for what it's worth...

This makes a lot of sense on the surface.

What is that other piece on the left?

EDIT : I see it’s an adapter. Can you elaborate a little more ?

The factory LT-1-4 and the LT-5 have different bolt patterns.

The part on the left bolts to the intake and the LT-5 Throttle body bolts to the plate.

Thank you for your interest.

Ted.

Do you have any results you can share with this mod on the LT4?

Like any throttle body mod it will improve throttle response and peak power when spinning the blower faster.

Gains are in direct proportion to how fast you spin the blower.

From not much stock to as much as 20 RWHP if maxing out the little blower, and bigger blowers will benefit even more.

Thank you Ted. I dealt with you about 6 years ago when I had my 2010 SS. I got a tuner and an email tune from you. I remember you being a pleasure to deal with. I had to call you guys cause I was having some issues uploading the tune.

I’m going to see where this LT5 blower conversion from Weapon X ends up. If I don’t go that route I might hit you up for one of these.

Here is the version without porting the LT5. We just did our Stage 3 ported LT4 supercharger and this TB and picked up 50whp/tq! I can grab the dyno graph tomorrow.

So bolting on the LT5 throttle body on a stock 2022 ZL1 will work with no tuning, I also have a cold air kit already?

You’ll either have to run an adapter or just open up the front of the blower a bit accept the wider TB blade (I’d go with the latter). It’ll run ok with the stock tune but obviously better with a tune (and make more power). Even better if paired with a ported blower.

I have the adaptor, it came with the package I bought. Will it give my car added power? I would be happy w/ 5-10 RWHP
