I ask because I could not for the life of me get that damn lock to pop open all the way. I ended up getting the red cable stuck partway through and when trying to pull it back out ripping the metal connector off it. I ended up opening up the Onstar silver box and soldering 3 wires onto pads 5, 6 and 12. I used some wiring from an old PC fan (red/yellow/black wires) and tied them into your 3 wires.
The 3 wires for the Onstar are for the voice recognition, it was moved from the old radio, so if your voice recognition does not work you did not do it right.

Voice recognition works, so looks like I soldered them correctly

2012 2SS - Differences from Install Instructions

Did my install and wanted to mention a few things I ran across that might be helpful for others with a 2012 2SS.

Dremel Cut
I didn't need to do the dremel cut that the instructions mentioned behind the headunit. My molding was already designed with the right shape.

Unlock Wiring (for doors)
I got a little stuck on this step trying to figure out what I needed it for and did not perform that step. I finally realized it wasn't needed in my car because the driver door has a button to unlock the other doors.

USB Cable
While this isn't model specific, I wanted to mention what end of the USB cable should go to the head unit. This is important because the ends have different connectors. The easy way is to plug it into the back of the head unit before install to determine which end is which.

Overall, I'm really happy with this kit and install instructions. Everything works just like factory including the HUD and DIC displaying info which is nice.

Bluetooth.

What does a stock one come up as? "MyLink"?

This is the X2 connector. The "lock" on this connector only comes up about 1/8 of an inch. A very small flat tip jewelers screwdriver should do the trick. Also, the wires are hard to get all the way in so use a jewelers screwdriver small enough to fit in the connector socket to push the cables in all the way.
Hope that helps.

I had an odd thing happen over the weekend and wonder if any of you retrofitters have seen this.

When I started the car, MyLink powered up but it lost all of its memory. All the station presets (about 6 of them) were showing up as "..." and the time was not displayed. I played around with it and turned it off and back on and drove for about 30 minutes but it stayed that way. Eventually I just set a single station preset and left it alone.

The next day, I started the car and everything was back to normal. All my previous station presets were there and the time appeared and was correct.

Since I have a 2010 manual will the doors still have the double pull function? I don't even use the door lock button because of it.
