I think the slowest Camaro would be the auto LTG. So, I think both Rockin' and I are pretty good. However, I do know what the slowest Camaro V8 is the last few years. That would be the "sluggish" AFM plagued L99. Last edited by gringo; 06-06-2019 at 01:24 AM. |

I'd be bitter too if I had to if every time someone said "did you get the v8?" You have to explain how the v6 is "almost as good"

You can only call a car sluggish if you are quicker.

I couldn't care less about the performance times of the antiquated L99 and LS3. They're considered slow these days, anyway. The 6th gen SS is almost a full second faster in the 1/4 and the new 460hp Mustang GT PP is even faster still. I don't have to explain anything. I know I got a really nice ride and it's peppy enough to handle itself against 80% of the cars out on the street. And, the best part, I paid only $18.9k (brand new) for it back in '15. |

You can call something faster in the 1/4 mile sluggish if the throttle response warrants it.
Back in the day, I test drove a brand new LS1 '98 Trans Am. That car felt so sluggish at low to mid rpms I couldn't believe it. When I got back in my old '89 GTA (L98), it felt like a rocketship in comparision. However, as we all know, those LS1 4th gens were much faster than the L98 3rd gens. Unless I'm racing at the track, I'd prefer the slower more "responsive" car compared to the faster but "sluggish" feeling one. It just makes driving it more enjoyable IMO. |

Anyway, a Camaro is not a muscle car by pure definition. The Challenger would fit that description. As for the dealer sales person laughing at me, well the guy who was my sales person told me that my car was a very nice car and he recommended a local Camaro club for me to check out. Oh, his personal car is a 2014 LS3 SS. He still owns it and still works at the same dealer. Last edited by gringo; 06-06-2019 at 05:37 AM. |

The 2016 brochure lists the 6th gen SS 8A at 12.3 secs in the 1/4 mile. The 5th gen SS is anywhere from 12.7 to 13.2, depending on drivetrain. That's almost a full second faster (9 tenths) than the L99 V8. It's about the same difference the L99 is from the 5th gen non 2LS V6. 13.2 vs 14.1 ish. However, if we use the 6th gen V6 8A as an example, it's only 2 tenths of a second difference. 13.2 vs 13.5 sec in the 1/4 mile as listed in the 2016 brochure for the LGX 8A. That's only 2 car lengths. So, if you're a mostly stock L99 V8 owner, you better not be caught napping if your racing a 6th gen V6. If you do, you may just get beat by a V6. |

Gringo the biggest problem with all your posts (considering price matters most to you) is my SS was cheaper to buy new than the new V6 is to buy new. Talk about a bargain. I get a faster (according to the times you post) better looking (my opinion) way better sounding (fact) for less money. No brainer to me.

muscle car noun \ -ˌkär \ Definition of muscle car : any of a group of American-made 2-door sports coupes with powerful engines designed for high-performance driving I would love to hear your twisted reasoning on how a Challenger fits that description but a Camaro does not. Let me grab my popcorn.... |
