After a lot of reading (this thread lol) , I feel a certin way ...

I am a former 2010 Camaro owner , SS and LLT , have Chevrolet Tattoos on my skin , and will never own a mustang even if it had 3000 hp stock.

But I feel Chevy may have rushed this car . Pretty much everything written about it indicates that it is not what people wanted. I feel bad that the ZL1 owners who first took delivery have to deal with the now "slow" stigma that is being cast on this beautiful car.

I think the whole track car argument is absurd , this was supposed to be (and is -- by what we know now , but by a small margin) the baddest camaro and direct competition to the Shelby and SRT. Chevy never marketed it as a track car , and 0.1% of ZL1's will ever see a road course. And the people saying they dont care about the speed -- then why just get an LFX v6? The looks are pretty much the same and an LFX with a ZL1 body parts will be much less then 60k. People saying Hennessey which is one of , if not the best in the business -- fabricated times is ABSURD. They have clients all over the world -- and would never do something like that.

I know if I preordered a ZL1 , I would be defending it with every bone in my body. But from a Chevy guy , with Chevy blood , and an honest non biased opinion ... and (as of now) , there is no reason to justify $60k+ price tag for a ZL1 , when a SS stock can put up comparible numbers , and one with $700 in bolt ones can put up better numbers. Better suspension and all that is great , but it (from what we know) just isn't logical to purchase this car and I don't know why Chevy released it with at least some knowledge that it won't live up to die hard customers expectations.

I hope in the next few weeks we see some better times with broken in engines ... but it isn't looking good so far . I don't expect die hard Chevy fans to support the mustang -- but I'm very surprised that a lot of people on here are not at the least -- a little angry with Chevys marketing of the ZL1.

Good post sir. Sad to say but reading all the hush-hush QC hold and post-delivery issues, I feel vindicated in my decision to not rush into a 2012 ZL1 and rather wait a little bit let the beta owners find out and report the problems. I agree with you, the ZL1 was hyped up to a degree that some are now feeling let down. Shoulda hyped it with the GS as the benchmark to beat, not the GT500.

I came over from the mustang forum. I'm not a brand loyal guy--i have 3 gm's and 3 fords currently. I haven't seen much dumbshit in this thread, other than someone claiming a timeslip that's not theirs. Most of the guys from the ford forums have been supportive. If these two cars run neck and neck from the factory, we will see more advances each time around--everyone wins--duh.
