You all can laugh and criticize me but......I chose to get the new keys a couple weeks ago. I was getting tired of all the mail and emails about it.
It's really not bad (other than now looking dated with the separate key). You get used to it fast and it's not a big deal anymore. The only thing that still bothers me is the ugly hole on the fob where the key stem used to be.
Not any more

Wish they felt the same way about the cracked dash debacle of the Tahoe/Suburban/Avalanche in the third paragraph

Yea while at the dealer yesterday, the service advisor told me a story about how the key came out while the car was in motion, causing the car to come to a sudden stop. This caused a bad accident where the 2 people in the vehicle died because they were slammed into by the 18 wheeler behind them. He didn't say if it was a Camaro. But he did say the key design has a flaw, so GM is recommending everyone to switch to the new key, or sign a waiver saying you don't want to replace the keys.

I like the key design the car comes with, but for safety reasons, I will be swapping them out.

i have two of the separate keys.currently keeping my keys on the electric fob with switchblade key including one of the separates which is the key i place in the ignition.that way i can still use the fob lock, trunk release, etc.if thats not safe,GM should tell me so.

I got one done and kept one.

I figure why risk not being able to register or insure the car you love?

I really don't see why this is such a big deal or issue, just get one done say you lost one and your in compliance.

Sunfire,Solstice,Colbalt ect had a serious ignition issue that cost people their lives.

Mary Bara had to testify before congress on that matter.

Of course they are taking this seriously even if its a totally different unrelated issue.

and yet other models have the same style key and there not recalled, doesn't make much sense to only pick on one car owner group, recall all with the same style keys and I will get it done.

Maybe they should testify why they have a faulty airbag sensor in our cars too

Its not like thats anything new.

My friend bought a new 1995 Camaro Z28 and crashed it 8 months later in a torrential down pour on the Pennsylvania Turnpike.

He hit both guard rails and neither bag deployed on a totalled car.

It just that A STORY
Only case I've heard about was the guy trying to turn the key with his knee. Thats just with the Camaro, not with the other real key problem cars. (CRUZ)

I know some fellow Californians were concerned about not being able to register their cars. I never had the recall done and received my registration renewal a couple weeks ago. No mention of a recall. Paid the fee and received new registration and tag last week. Also have no issue with insurance either.

I never opted out of the recall so I still receive letters and emails from time to time. But I've never received anything about the seat recall.
