Yep, it's happened to me on launch. However, it's also happened to me while shifting from 1-2 or 2-3 during high rpm, semi-aggressive driving.

Picking my car up from dealership in the morning. They didn't get to my car yet and didn't want to get part way through it and not have it ready before I needed to leave for C5 Fest. Taking it back on Monday after I get back in town.

Stay tuned for more information in about a week.

UPDATE: I met with a GM guy in person for the first time today. He is the "Fixed Operations Manager, Customer Care and Aftersales" for the South Central Region. I took him and the dealership service manager out for a drive and replicated the clutch smell. He agreed with me that I produced the smell while driving the vehicle in what would be considered a normal way. He then asked if we could take one of the dealer's stock Camaros and try the same thing. We did, and the smell was even worse. He put me in a loaner car and said he would call me later today to give me an update. He said he would call the Camaro engineering team today.

I'm as hopeful and optimistic as I've ever been. I'll let everyone know what happens...

AWESOME!!! I hope all works out well for you. By the sounds of things, things are looking brighter and brighter! Good luck with the rest of the endeavor. Did they at least give you a Camaro for your loaner?

I was on a small incline today getting ready to turn left, I was going to go but changed my and pushed the clutch back in and it started smelling like crazy and pretty much stuck half way up. I pumped it a few times then it seemed to be ok but I doubt it is still break in because it has 2200 miles on it now. I have been driving it pretty fast but have only dumped the clutch at high RPMs twice since I got it.

Take it to the dealer it's a faulty pressure plate! I'm takin mine in Monday.they got a Rebuilt one. I talked to a service tech at a dealer that works on alot of corvettes and they got the same issue and it's the pressure plate! Get a new one before ur 12k mile clutch warranty is up!

My car did this too off and on, usually on the same small hill leaving the base at the light, hasn't done it in months though.

New clutch, pressure plate, master cylinder all installed on my Camaro now. They said the clutch was all burned up (blueish coloring with chatter marks). Only had the car out once since I picked ot up and seemed ok. Originally, when I bought the car, I smelled clutch as soon as I took it out on the road in front of the dealership. Thought it was just a new car break-in smell back then. I Know better now.

Being really careful, since I need 500 miles to break it in again. Did get a slight smell backing it up the driveway. Time will tell.

First of all, thanks for all the updates on this. I have experienced the smell a couple times, but it hasn't happened all that often. The next time I am stopped on an incline, I'm curious to see if I can reproduce the problem myself.

Have you heard back from the regional rep yet?

I was stopped at in incline over the weekend. No smell at all, and I was rocking her because the ass behind me was right on my ass.

Ok, so just got back from the dealer and they are ordering all the parts to replace the clutch. Someone else posted these:

12571611 Flywheel
11569956 Flywheel Bolts (6 required)
12557583 Pilot Bearing
12561465 Pressure Plate Bolts (6 required)
24255748 Clutch / Pressure Plate Kit

One of the parts, not sure which, i was told is a new part, but GM was trying to use up all the existing parts before changing to the new one. We'll see! She should hopefully be going in for the upgrades later this week.
