And they should! The damned thing goes through a half tank in 23 minutes of track time. No lie.

Not just hype, but mostly limited build. When only 500 are made per model year, supply is limited thus demand becomes high.

The GT350R is $64,545 with no options

Thumbs up

The ZL1 would smoke the GT350R, maybe the next GT500 could be on the same level, but GM has their secret weapon ZL1 1LE.
How does the ZL1 1LE compares to the Corvette's Z06 w/. Z07 package?

There is also the question of what engine is in the ZR1 that is currently testing at the Nurburgring and will it find it's way into the Camaro. Expectation is that the gen6 Camaro will be in production through MY 2020. I wouldn't be surprised if team Camaro still has a car up their sleeve for MY2019 to answer the GT500. Hard to believe that the mid cycle refresh will be without a new performance leader

I think we will see the mid cycle refresh in 2019 model year, then a Z/28 in 2020 MY, perhaps using a new N/A motor that may be debuting in mid-engine vette.

I agree and disagree. Being close to the hellcat in 1/4 time while putting up great road course times is a huge accomplishment. Shows what a great well rounded car it is.

But at the same time I don't think it should be considered exceeding when you are beating a car down 120 HP and 200 some pound feet of torque. That to me is like a heavy weight boxer bragging about knocking out a middle weight

I disagree. In the last generation, the lighter, naturally aspirated Boss 302 and Z/28 were faster than the more powerful GT500 and ZL1. The GT350R weighs 276 lbs less (3,650 vs 3,926 lbs) and has carbon-fiber wheels that remove 16 lbs of unsprung weight at each corner. If the ZL1 post a faster lap it will be a major accomplishment.

The GT350R is special with a chassis designed specifically for the Mustang with a track specific FPC engine, etc. The ZL1 is a bottom breathing parts bin car built on a sedan chassis with a band aided LT4 engine.

Funny to focus on the one and only thing that is far less important than all the advantages the 350r has.

I guess tires don't matter this time around for starters lol

It's a touring car vs a race car. Pretty amazing engineers at GM to have a car like that run with fords purpose built race car.
