LOL at the "SC and cam only". If it has a blower, it is not cam only.

Stock cam oh wait...
Cam only* Aftermarket cam with supporting bolt on's.
Go cam your car and tell the dealer/GM/Ford that is a stock engine.

That thing hauls the mail, too bad its a mustang.

Horsepower is a great indicator of acceleration potential if all you have to look at is a peak number, but the force that is actually accelerating the car is torque at the wheels, and torque at the wheels is multiplied by lower (higher numerically) gearing.

Gears also help when you are moving because you are more in the powerband of the next gear when you shift. If not, you still get there quicker.

Latest rumors have the 2013 GT500 at 650hp with a variant of the 5.0, not 5.4. Supposed to be turbo instead of supercharged.

The more gears you have the better you can keep the car in the powerband.

You're mixing up transmission speeds with rear end ratios. More gears mean that the RPM's fall less with each shift, keeping the engine in its peak power RPM more often than a transmission with less gears would.

Rear end ratio just dictates the final drive ratio, and does not affect the spacing between the gears.

Yes, it is true. You're right, the difference may not be clear cut from one car to the next, but the bottom line is that shorter gears will not make any car accelerate any faster once the engine is in the powerband. Its as simple as that, and physics back it up 100%.

Acceleration is a direct relationship with horsepower. If a car makes 400WHP at 6,000RPM, it will make that same horsepower with 3.42 gears or 4.10 gears, and therefore accelerate at the same rate at that given RPM. The difference is the car with 4.10's will just go through the gears faster, but the speedometer will climb at the same rate.

All gears do is help you get into the powerband faster in 1st gear, so they are good for drag racing, allowing you to get off the line faster.

Actually it's not...

I don't care what supercharger you buy, you aren't going to shave 3 seconds off a 1/4 mile with just a supercharger. I mean hell, if it was that simple and easy, most of us would do it and call it a day...

Comparing a n/a car with a supercharger added to the same style of car with a factory supercharger is a fairly good comparison. 550hp supercharged vs. 412hp + supercharger. Most of the supercharger kits are at most, going to put the Mustang around 620hp....and trust me, if you are going to spend the extra 6-8k to do it, you probably have the money to afford a GT500...

Another thing to take into consideration is how long and high the engines power band goes. This is where a stock LS3 had the disadvantage to the 5.0L because it make's its power lower in the rpm range and with a shorter rpm power band vs the new 5.0L's power band which it higher up there and can be taken past 7,500 rpm while still maintaining peak power.

This is the reason why Honda's and other 4 cylinder even bother racing.

Very impressive for the cam and SC. My car is also "stock", I have done nothing to the bottom end of the motor so it is "stock"!?!? LOL!!!

A blower at that price still would keep my 5.0L under 40K... I highly doubt you can buy a brand new GT500 for anywhere near that.. Not around here anyway.. And as far as the 3 second thing I agree with you, but I don't think anybody made that assumption unless I missed it.. Another thing is that most blower kits never come alone, they usually have SOME supporting parts that go with them..
