what if i ran 93 octane since day one but ended up putting 20$ of 87 octane when i had no choice, because some garages dont sell 93 octane due to low sales or what not? should i do the fuse pull?

I'm pretty sure the day i bought my SS the dealer filled it with 87 but i've ran it with 93 ever since, except for the 20 -25$ i threw in it the other night...i have a little less than 3/4 of a tank with 20 litres of 93 and 20 litres of 87... what would be the best thing to do here? the car is in storage but i usually go start it and run it to normal running temp every once in a while...should i run it almost to empty and fill it with 93 then do the fuse pull?
Thanks for any input |

thats your best bet... run it as low as you can/dare, fill it up with 93, run a quarter tank and do a pull.

Thanks guys i'll definitely let you's know what happens and how the car runs. I always thought the car was a little sluggish so hopefully it wakes up by doing the pull..and if my cat back could hurry up and get shipped, it was supposed to ship Dec. 27th now i was told Jan.6th.. getting impatient

Okay, so the dealer that I bought my car from filled the car up with a full tank of 87 gas. At the time I didnt realize that there was a problem with the fuel maps and was just amazed by the fact that this car was able to run on 87 octane. I soon came to realize this problem after reading through these forums and intend on fixing the dealers mistake. I have half a tank left of 87 octane and am looking for the best way to get the car to 91 octane so I can pull the fuses and be on the high fuel mapping. 93 is a rarity where I live and 91 is my only real option for everyday driving. Should I run the tank as low as possible and load it up with a full tank of 91 or should I attempt to find one of the very few stations selling 93 and mix in enough to hopefully change it to 91?

Either way. I'd do both if I could. Drive til you see the gas light come on, then drive about ten miles more, fill with 93 if possible, but 91 will be fine. drive it home do the pull.

L99 Fuel issue
I am a little slow in finding these issues, so forgive me for that. I just purchased a 2011 2SS with the L99 engine. I was told at the dealer that I should at least run the first tank of 93 Octane before I decide to change. Well, in my ignorance, I was trying to save a buck or two and started putting in 89 octane. What I did not realize was that there was a performance hit. After reading a lot of the posts, I went out yesterday afternoon and pulled the two fuses shown in the previous pictures. I left them out about an hour and a half or so and put them back in for the drive home. Damn, what a difference!! I started thinking about the times I had tried to light the tires and couldn't, but as I left work, I left a small token for all to see. Once I got off the base, I hit it again and immediately noticed how much better and responsive everything was. I had heard about resetting the FMS, but could not get any GM machanics to say it would help. I am glad I read this article and thank all those who provided even the smallest of addidtional info to make this easy to follow even for an old man. I look forward to all of the other issues I want to research. Thank you ALL!!!

It doesn't appear that they are.
Just don't put low octane gas in your car. If you have to, at least you know how to correct the problem. |
