drag race, no way. Road course, RX8 will most likely destroy you. I owned an RX8 for a bit when they first came out. Fun car in the twisties, maybe one of the better handling cars I have ever driven, but as far as straight line, it has no guts at all.

No. I'm an ex-2005 RX-8 owner. The Renisis 13B has no torque, even at 9000+ RPM. The LFX has more grunt and will outrun it. A Honda S2000 will catch the RX-8 and leave it in the dust.
The RX-8's handling is overrated. My car rode too soft and floaty. My G35 is faster and handles better. Sold the RX-8 after 14 months and bought a 350Z. Depending on your tires, you should have no problem keeping up with the RX-8 in corners. Last edited by V35 Skyline; 12-05-2012 at 09:53 AM. |

They are areound mid 14s with the manual and someone will to wring the piss of them, and automatic is much MUCH slower, you should have him. Handling wise though, i would say don't even try it.

And I would be racing him legally he wants to do a street race but I wouldn't ever street race.... Not taking the chance of getting my car taken away for $200

What's funny is the guys over in the RX8 forums seem to think bone stock RX8s can run very low 14s (14.1 - 14.2) and 13s with just tuning.
If that were true, it would be a handful for a V6 Camaro in a drag race. I find those times (14.1 - 14.2) bone stock hard to believe (maybe a glory pass under extremely low DA conditions?). |

The RX-8's 1/4 mi. time is actulally around 15 sec. Thats for the 6-speed manual. On the street, its slow. The LFX can take'em.

I sold my RX8 to buy my Camaro.
I still miss the car as it was a terrific handling car and a blast to drive the twisties. It's a dog off the line and I wouldn't even consider a stop light drag with anyone in it. A V6 Camry would give it fits. Not to mention the Renesis is basically tapped out already from the factory. Mazda did a great job of tuning the engine. No power to be added with bold ons. FI is the only way and even then the engine won't take much.

Not even close, My old car ran high 14s, low 15s and I SMACKED one of the auto cars. You should put almost 10 cars on him.
