Angry So what do I have to do to beat a 5.0

I am so disappointed in my car right now. I was at the track today and lightly modded 5.0s were running 12.2 to 12.7. Check my sig for my mods. L99 obviously

I was running 12.9x all day. I won 1 race but cut .3 better light. They were trapping 112 to 114.

Maybe some gears or a torque converter?

You are gonna need more then a cam.

Sticky tires, converter, Whipple supercharger and all necessary supporting mods so you don't hurt your car should do the trick.

Its hard to overcome a proper SRA drag car like the new 5.0L once you add drag tires and a tune.

Since sticky tires, H pipe and a tune on a new Mustang is good for low 11's you just may want to quit now and just deal with it before you spend all that $$$ transforming your SS into a drag car.

There is ALWAYS going to be something faster then you so that's no reason to run out and spend a bunch of $$$ on mods.

I would be happy with those times, but I understand wanting to take out the 5.0

The new GTs never dyno under 370ish and sometimes into the 380s stock.

So whats the deal with these cars? Do they actually make between 440 to 450 HP stock...or do they have some kind of amazingingly low driveline loss? lol

I don't get how a car this day and age with SAE standard power ratings can be so underrated.

Some Mustang 5.0s are great, but those I"ve seen run at Memphis International raceway aren't the greatest. I've run 5 thus far and beat them all. Here's a video of a 5.0 on a great weather night, with a tune and other bolt ons that couldn't break into the 12s. That night my basic bolt on Camaro was running 12.4s @ 111:

Deeper gears and a higher stall torque converter will give you low 12's.

I'd line up against you anytime.....

Tune and tires/wheels.

Converter, full exhaust and just a hair more gear (stock 3.15 to a 3.31):

I have NEVER seen a bolt on 5th gen. come close to these times at our track. Best I have come across is a 12.4 in similar DA as the 11.3x passes.

There has to be more to this. No way your only mods are "Converter, full exhaust and just a hair more gear 3.31" You either have more power or less unsprung mass.

I got exhaust with headers n tune and intake, burst short throw. I went to the track once with BALD Pirelli ice. Snow tires. I ran horrible times but my traps were way higher than these 12.9@117. 12 6@118. Lighting fires with the tires! Why r the traps only 112?

Whether there is more to it or not his claim will stand. Instead, just take a look at the fast lists over at some of the Mustang forums, and you will get a good sense what the 5.0s do with various mods at various tracks. Lots of data to mine, you don't have to take one guys word for it.

122 trap speed with full exhaust and a tune Anyone who believes that crap needs to come back to the real world. He forgot to mention all the wieght reduction and what ever bull crap he is hidding, whats up with all the tint on the windows, mabey see you cant see how gutted the car is! Its funny that there are only a few shop cars running times like that, but any given day at the track they are running 12s with those mods!

To the OP, your car should be faster with the mods you have! Mid 12s should be there, something is up.

Saying that he needs a supercharger with all those mods just to beat a bolt-on 5.0 is stretching it, a lot.
