Advice!!!! SELL OR NO!?!?

I have a 1995 Z28 Red camaro and im really on the verge of selling it! My reasons are because i have now ran into another problem, the cooling system is not working, im guessing its the radiator because its leaking from that area and is not at all cooling my car. another problem im having is its either the shifter or tranny (automatic) because when i got to shift from park its really stiff and sometimes pops and or jerks, also when in park its seems to act like a park reverse mix because it wil try to roll back when i put it in park but wont because its locked with brakes and it revs like it were in a gear.... not a normal neutral or park position rev. The last problem im having isnt horrible but is my air intake i have to replace everything from the elbow down. It has 127,000 miles and i really wanna no if its worth fixing or just get another car. ADVICE PLEASE!! ANYTHING HELPS!! I can give more info if needed.

Leak sounds like a water pump. Shine a light down by the Opti and check to see if it's damp down there (slightly behind the radiator on the front of the block). If the pump and opti are showing any signs of moisture I'd say put it up for a DP on another 4th gen or an LS/LT 5th gen if you can hack it.

Why: Water pump + Opti = Oy Vey..

If the torque converter isn't releasing, it will seem as if it isn't coming out of gear. Also, the reverse issue is odd. That can be a broken reverse band. I have also seen situations where the low / reverse clutch pack retainers have broken and the vehicle is always in drive (even when placed in reverse they fight themself).
Basically the trans is going to have to be dropped and torn down.

As for the intake, did the elbow brake/crack somehow?

Where are you at in Michigan anyway?

damn.... im really leaning towards selling it now... im located in the detroit metro area. The intake elbow just has a rip where it connects to the throttle body and the intake tubing and filter just needs to be replaced in general. But what would you recommend because I dont have the money to spend on a huge replacement for this car.

Honestly, I'd take it in and have a reputable transmission shop take a look at the car by 'attempting' to drive it to see first hand what the shift linkage and transmission is actually doing. The water pump may not be much of an issue but labor wise it's a pain.

Again it could also just be a bad seal or something. Depending on the age it could also be a bad impeller which is common on some GM pumps.

Depending on the labor involved and what actually is wrong with the transmission, it may be easier to just repair the trans, and sell it with a good trans but with a bad pump if you're that short on cash. Layering up repairs like that is really gonna 'bone' ya in the wallet.

+1 I see bone stock transmissions selling for 800 to 1K all the time on LS1tech. It does sound like you water pump. I agree with Zabo with the opti+water= If you've gotta be in a camaro, a trade in for an 00-02 LS1 4th gen shouldn't be too hard to come by with decent mileage and good price.

The only advice I have is dont sell it! you'll regret it. I regret selling mine every day. I want another one soooo bad, but dont have the funds at the moment.

If your 1995 Z28 has high mileage or you are questioning repairing
it or not I would trade it in at a dealership for a 00-02 LS1 4th gen or sell your 1995 Z28 private owner (to someone that is willing to repair it)
and then fined a 00-02 LS1 4th gen. for sale.
I know my friend had a leaking water pump and it made his opti spark
fail from all the moisture leaking from his water pump on his 1994 Z28.
It was such a pain in the romp to fix my friend ended up taking it
to the Chevrolet dealership service department to get fixed.
Transmission repair or replacement can get pretty costly.
Good luck.
