OMG--I CANT BREATHE, I CANT BREATHE---SOMEBODY HEARD MY CRY---i just do not understand why these were not a option. They have always made the CAMARO shine baby. T-tops did not have to disappear from cars of today.

but hey, it's just my opinion which is only worth .02 cents.
I hadn't posted. But here goes my opinion if it matters

I believe it was Number3 that mentioned the reason the car didn't have T-tops was the same reason that the sunvisors are so small. It had to do with the safety of the car.

The car was modeled after the 1969 camaro. The Gen 1's never had T tops and I don't think they would go with the style of the Gen 5.

I'd be very concerned with the safety with this mod.

My only question would be the cost...no ballpark figure on the conversion???

I'm not concerned about the rigidity, I don't plan on rolling over LOL

Since they are using one with the reverse mohawk... if they go with glass, with there be anyway to continue that onto the glass? If not... it may look kind of odd. Can't wait to see the end product

Um, aren't there airbags up there?

Doesn't matter to me anyway since I still have the '95 and '91 with t-tops...

Hmmm i've had t-tops in my 85 iroc they leaked cause of bad seals, but my 87 never leaked at all and i've gotten caught in some pretty nasty weather on multiple occasions. So the seals have gotta have a lot of care and research to make sure she stays dry, and well of course safety too. Carbon fiber is nice just as long as you have the right amount of layers in your weave for strength. That and back to the seal thing, if you have exposed areas of aluminum up against the carbon fiber without a proper seal the car will rust due to desimilar metal corrosion. Sorry got on a tangent here lol.

T-tops good, Seals bad

I loved the idea and looks of T-tops in my '82 Berlinetta, however they leaked terribly. Also the car seemd to flex and the roof panels and seals squeaked. If those kinds of issues are resolved then I would be all over it. And they must be smoked glass.

you make a good point, but would like to see one done. Conv. is going to real nice when it comes out.

Sure it's a good point, and yes, the 'vert will be nice.....

However, I've never been a big convertible fan. Always loved the t-tops (targas are a close second). They are more secure, safer (a guy around town here rolled his '82 or '83 Monte and the top didn't even crumple because of the reinforcement that was in the top cross member), and in my opinion, they are cooler. I say that because you can get a convertible everything these days....Mustangs, Sebrings, Solaras, whatever, but no one, no one has t-tops any more and the only things that have targa tops are in the Vette and Porsche classes or higher.

I say GM should make them an option and when Ford says "well, we have a glass roof option", GM can say "so do we, but ours is removeable".....

I wasn't overly happy about the sunroof design anyway, so this just seals it....if they can keep the price reasonable, I will be having this done to mine, probably before I even take delivery.

And, since everyone else seemed to be mentioning it, I had an '82 Monte and a '90 Camaro, both with t-tops....they never leaked....the hatch on my Camaro leaked, but I replaced the seal and all was good after that.....

Im a big fan of T-tops but idk how great they'd be on these new models. The new Camaro is meant to be a refined, sophisticated performance car, its meant to leave all of those lame stigmas behind, like the gas guzzler idea, the "muscle cars cant turn" idea, and of course the "t-top, mullet, trailer park queen" idea. Im not sure, i love T-tops myself but i'll need to see them on the new car before i can say yay or nay to it.
