The 96643 has the bigger flange which replicates the the OEM seating area. OEM wheels have a pretty large lug hole which would make me a little uncomfortable running the 71643. Look at the contact point in the picture above where the blue dry lube is rubbed off.

From company:

Both will work. the 96643 is the more OEM style of lock, and what I would choose. The down side is they are a bit more in price. the 7 series are actually for aftermarket wheels. they are taller and slimmer on the top, but both have the same 60 degree conical seat and the same thread pattern.

figures the 20+ more ones. oh well..if your gonna do it, do it right.!!

I have the 7 series lugs installed (same as pictured above), but haven't driven car as its in heated storage. The flange comparison has me slightly nervous. But, they seemed to tighten down fine.

I purchased the OEM style ones, it was worth the extra money. They look great and installed perfectly. I've driven a few hundred miles with them so far, and no issues, I just installed them a few days ago.

Interesting. Looks like I'll be ordering the 9 series black OEM style then. Thanks enough and beany for the clarification.

Does anyone have pics of the OEM style in chrome on their car? I think I might go this route.
