need help with 00' Tahoe

I know there's probably a better section for this, but i haven't been on here much lately and need help bad!

I was removing a bunch of old dead systems the previous owner installed on my 2000 Tahoe. such as: sound system, satellite relay, aftermarket security, cd changer/ audio sytem wires that were dead going nowhere.

All of this was terribly spliced into key system wires using barbaric techniques. Cutting into main power wires of the steering column by removing a small section of shielding, then wrapping the new wire around the exposed original and adding lots of electric tape.

we tested the car before putting the dash back together. She turned over just fine. After that i started capping some of the old wires i could not completely remove. I made the mistake of not removing the battery during any of this. never meant to go as far as i did. but after seeing all of the excess garbage in there i just kept going.

But now the engine won't do anything at all. During the clean up i did spark one of the wires twice that goes up into the steering wheel against the frame around it while cutting it to cap it. this wire was tied into a "Hornet" system. no idea what it was.
All of the electrical systems are still working. Exterior/interior lights. dash lights, radio, i can hear the fuel system engaging when the key is turned on before actually trying to turn the engine over, but once i try to actually turn the engine on, i get nothing at all. just the sound of the fuel system working.

Can anyone please help me with this. Any suggestions at all will help greatly. THANK YOU!!!!

Does your Tahoe have a Passlock VATS system?

I am not sure if it does or not. The previous owner did install some kind of aftermarket security system at one point. However no idea what it was or is.

VATS is a chipped key that links to a code sensor in the ignition switch.
Do you have a security light flashing when you try to crank it?
You can try overriding it.

oh ok. No. no security light flashing. the security light comes on with the rest of the lights when you turn the key on before trying to crank the engine. but nothing more than that.
I did notice that when i try to crank the engine, the Parking Break light comes on, as well as the abs light. not sure if thats normal or not.

Does the security light stay on when moving the switch to crank? Like this?

here is a pic of the dash after you turn the key to run before starting the engine.
also included is the lights shown while holding the key to crank the engine while nothing happens.

the third pic is of the steering wheel. you can see the lines a little bit that are now capped off where the old system was spliced into the factory lines

upon further inspection and talk with my father we came to the conclusion that the previous owner had installed a remote start system along with the security and audio systems. i believe that once i cut those wires to the remote start box, that the tahoe has now gone partially back to original condition. needing a Actual serialized key, not just a plain metal copy. going to order one tomorrow morning. hopefully that works.
