The new style automatic transmission in the Corvette will be my way to get one, as the wife will be able to drive it. Until the rev matching, faster lap times of the automatic, I was not interested. I think it will be fun for her to have something she can drive on occasion.

When I was putting forth the idea that I wanted a Camaro, my wife stated "OK" as long as it was a convertible. After I picked myself up from the floor, I said "OK." I thought it would be a hard sell to convince my wife to go along with getting what is basically an adult toy. She likes the idea of tooling around with the top down.

I wouldn't have bought my Camaro if it wasn't a manual. I wanted a Pontiac G8 when they came out but there was no manual option unless you got the GXP which I could not afford at the time. Just pushing the pedal to the floor is boring as hell to me and these manumatics orwhatever you want to call them is not like the real thing.
Going to trade my Camaro in for Chevy SS since you can now get a four door with a V8 and manual. THis is all just my preference. To each their own is my modo. |

My wife has her car and I have mine.
Yes, I taught her to drive stick, just in case. Our three children also. I went out of town for two weeks for work. I told my oldest son he could take my car to high school if he wanted. He said no. Then two days later he said "your car is so fun to drive!" Picked up my daughter from HS one day and she asked if we could give her boy friend a ride home. Two minutes later he asked my daughter, "Can you drive this car?" She said with the biggest smile on her face I ever saw, "Yes!"

I'm betting that Daddy had a huge-ass smile on his face as well

Chevy only built the SS to fit the NASCAR mold.
