e85 f/i 6?
Have any of you guys run ethanol in a forced induction 6 yet? I searched around and couldn't find any. Is the direct injection's hpfp limiting, or have you not seen those limits yet? Just interested in what kind of numbers you guys might see on e85 with any of the turbo setups available.

At 6 psi I've maxed out the HPFP. I don't have my logs here (at work) so I'll have to look up what the exact number is. Rough guess would be 60-65% more than a stock car.

Just a guess, but let me check my logs. I don't think we've hit the limit on the injectors, yet, but that may be right around the corner. We've got to just tackle one thing at a time so we know what the limit of each piece is.

e85 requires 30% more fuel for the same amount of energy, but the heat dissipating properties and resistance to knock allow waayyy more timing and more boost safely. Gretch, is it the hpfp that's maxing out, or are the injectors simply too small?

Looks like the HPFP. Should know for sure in a couple of weeks.

I think its the fuel pump.. even at 30-40% more fuel with my e85 my fuel pressure is already almost maxing out. Not quite there yet but I can imagine for your turbo setup.

I feel gretchens pain but my fuelpump dosnt need 60 percent more it can handle it till about 130-140mph then it runs out :-( some cobalts don't have the problem at all and go to 160

Old thread, but have you guys tried running a more gasoline heavy blend? I have seen almost all of the benefit of e85 on an e47 blend, but it requires less fuel. You won't have quite the effective octane rating, but the cooling characteristics will still be great and you will still be able to bump the timing way beyond gasoline tables. Something to think and talk to your tuners about. . .

Us cobalt guys hit this wall with bigger turbos and one manufacturer made a secondary fuel rail to help.
