Keeping Car Cool Tips
I take my v6 to the drag strip pretty much every weekend. It runs a lot on some and barely any on others. Anyway, the v6 has a tendency to get heatsoaked fairly easily. Example of this is that I always run my best time on the first run of the day after I let it sit for 45 minutes after getting to the track. I have an intake manifold insulator and it helps a lot! (compared mine and my buddies v6 and mine was a lot cooler... Thinking about taking actual temp reading) Anyway, I wanted to know if you guys had any tips as to making the car run cooler or helping it cool down faster? I willing to try anything as long as it won't hurt my car lol.

my last car i had.... i actually had setup a CO2 purge system inside the engine bay(6 puring nozzles)....after a run in the staging lanes.. i would spray. dramatically reduced my egine temp... i would say 50 deg or better.

Would that hurt the engine at all? How expensive was it?
I saw people putting like ice packs on their intake manifold, would that cause damage though? |

I've seen guys buy 12volt fans and run them off of the cigarette lighter while in the staging lanes. Just pop the hood high enough to put the fan (use it like a prop rod). Looks like a small box fan or squirrel cage fan.

cool down
As soon as you get through the 1/4 mile and are in the return lane put your heat on full blast, when you stop at the pits watch temp gauge at idle ,with heat on.....if you really want to get cool quick get an electric water pump...problem is there quit expensive for Camaros..

the heater works by taking heat from the coolant as it passses through the heater core. Blast the heat, open the hood, push the car through the staging lanes, etc.
ice wont help as much as if you had a metal intake like carburator cars, ours is plastic, don't waste your time with that one. otherwise, wait for fall/winter like the rest of us. going in the summer is CRAYz!!! too hot man. another thing you can do it rig the fans through the fuses to stay on even with the car off. you can link two fuses with a wire and keep them on. |

Wire in a switch to run your fans manually, or get a tune.

I have a tune, what should I ask for? Should i get a drag specific tune that I only use for the strip?
