Thougts from Carlisle
I was at the All GM Nationals at Carlisle today and thought I would share some things. I was at the presentation by the Bumblebee and Vert concepts. The hood was up on the vert and it had a LS2 with AFM in it. I know that it has been said that the LS2 will not be in the production version. 2 of the deciples were there but I don't remember their names. There is so much that they can't say but this is a list of the new things I heard today.
1-There will be some pre-pro cars at the Indy Bash in September, but John Fitzpatrick said that there won't be all the colors and models. 2-There will be information starting after the end of July about what models will be available, but not pricing. They kept saying 45 days when asked specific questions like will there be an SS and Z/28. 3-Pricing will be similar to Mustang, model for model. 4-GM cannot dicatate what dealers are allowed to charge. They give a MSRP but dealers can charge what they feel they can get out of them. Scott said that all cars sold in California right now are being sold above sticker, or at least have the add on sticker beside the sticker. 5-Road & Track never spoke to anyone at GM about their article on the Camaro. John said they have some things right but they have a lot of things wrong. |

Chevrolet isn't stupid enough to release in depth information this early.
The rest of the information ought to be good for those who are still confused about when information will be released and who controls MSRP.

I thought at Indy there were supposed to be production cars, hence the word "revealed". We've seen pre production, otherwise what would be the big deal?

I can't wait till the end of july to find out more details. I wonder if they will compare the current mustang prices because as all of us are aware, the new mustangs with upgraded engines are soon to be released and I'm pretty sure ford is going to start pricing with the base model in the low 20's

Scott said that the first cars built would be driven by GM Executives, such as himself, John, Cheryl. I would imagine that Ed would get one too since he is a Camaro guy. These would be driven as test cars so that any problems could be addressed before actual retail cars would be built. He also said something funny. He said that nobody builds a perfect car. A lot of peoplr think Toyota and Honda do, but those buildings behind the showrooms there are service facilities. And they always have a lot of business. LOL |

That didn't answer my question. Even the countdown on top says "production car revealed"

Wish the "CA add-on sticker" would be explained more. Anyone have any information on this? Will I have to go out of state to buy my Camaro at MSRP?

Glad I don't live in California, finally a perk for living in Chicago!
Interesting things mentioned at the Carlisle, I would imagine the fbodfather will have some words on the event this coming week?

Your question has me wondering too, wouldnt it kinda be pointless to unveil something that weve all been seeing since about or before January?? Plus havent we been told the exact opposite??? If my memory serves me correctly (it probably doesnt) we were told that there would be mulitple trim levels being unveiled, in multiple colors... we just werent told what the trims levels or colors would be. That's what got me so hyped about the Indy Bash. So I come back to pinkcamaro10's question, are we gonna see production ready-ish cars, or more IVER cars??? Fbodfather, please chime in, your words a needed.

If all the dealers in Cali are charging above MSRP, they can kiss it.
I expect to see production cars at Indy. I look forward to hearing what's said in July! Thanks for the info, mxkx250! |

I took his comment to mean that in California the dealers all seem to have the add on stickers now. A few of them here in WV have them. Adjusted Market Value, Regional Advertising, things such as that. Even though these stickers are on the cars, dosen't mean that you can't negioate them off. Problem is then when you are trying to negioate into the meat of the sticker, the salesman says how much he already knocked off.
I didn't get all worried about this comment. He said that there are 5000 (don't remember the exact number) Chevrolet dealers and if one won't bargain down to sticker, go to another one until you find your best deal. It has never been said outright, but I wouldn't expect to buy one for less than sticker the first year. (unless gas goes completely out reason like 6 or 8 dollars a gallon. Then try to get an Aveo for sticker, without a huge markup. LOL) |
