How much does the actual part cost? I guess most of the cost is labor since the rear has to be dropped.

I, too, got a po449 code and was hoping GM would offer assistance similar to other forum members, but GM declined cost assistance to have my dealer repair the evap. vent valve. This was very disappointing as many forum members thought it was an emissions warranty item and, at the very least, should have never failed so early in the life of the vehicle - especially since it is so hard to replace for the DIY'er. And, this part failure was covered under a special warranty letter in the 2012 model, but not 2011 or 2010. I will definitely take all of this into account when i go shopping for my next vehicle later this year.

Just had to go through this same issue with my dealer. They did not want to warranty the repair on my 2012 45th anniversary edition SS. Two days back and forth on the phone with no luck until I found the special bulletin letter sent out by GM.. Problem solved at no cost.. here is a link to the bulletin Thanks Hope this helps.

TSB's are crap I tried to get mine fixed under 2 of them and dealer said no or wanted a shit tone of money to fix them. The reason you ask because my car is out or warranty. The 2 TSBs are the chipped paint and the clutch pedal. So if your car is out of warranty expect a fight. I've come to the conclusion that all these people that are getting their cars fixed out of warranty but under a TSB for free are either reckless with the truth or my local dealer really sucks. I'll be buying a different brand or doing a out of state deal just so my local dealer won't be making a dime off it.

Evap valve

I changed the evap valve on my wife's 2010. Didn't have to drop rear end. Took about an hour and a half.
