Which plugs and wires to use
Looking to change all the fluids on the car i just bought including the plugs and wires: I have LT headers also.
What are your recommendations for the brand? I used MSD wires and NGK TR55 plugs on my 99 f-Body. Thoughts??? Thanks Last edited by svenh44; 04-04-2017 at 08:52 AM. |

For plugs, I went with the OEM AC Delco 41-110 plugs based on the recommendation of Ted Jannetty and many forum members.
https://www.summitracing.com/parts/ado-41-110 Spark plug wires: I have the Granatell 0-OHM wires. If I had it to do over again, I would have gotten the ones that come with the pre-installed boot sleeves. But they were like $230.00, which is nuts for a set of spark plug wires. I paid like $160.00 for the wires. I can't tell you if I picked up anything from these wires since I installed them with my headers and new plugs on the same day. Just don't fall for the crazy HP claims Granatelli says you will get for their 0-OHM wires. They are spark plug wires...they simply do what they are supposed to do. But I have had ZERO issues with them and they look great. Only potential issue is that they are blue. These are mine: https://www.summitracing.com/parts/grn-28-1811s

I'm on a maximum effort build so I've been looking into updating the consumables on my car.
Information that may or may not be useful:: OEM are about 350 to 370 ohms. Granatelli seem to run .01 to .04 ohms for $215. MSD are about 50 to 70 ohms for about $70. Magnecor in the 2000ohm range for about $125ish. Edit::. Taylor Spiro Pro 8mm Silicone - 301 ohms

Tr6ix is the plug I use not the 55.... and I use driven racing oil LS30 and recommend going to their site to check out fluids, and don't forget the additive when you do the rear end. I use Granattelli zero ohms also
http://www.granatellimotorsports.com/ they have a nice comparison in resistance video, and Driven has excellent bulletins and articles to know whats up in the fluids world like the change in oil standards this year.

I had Granatelli. One wire went bad with less than 3k miles on it. Tuner/builder recommended going back to OEM. No problems since then.

Stock Coils and Wires No Reason to change. Builder has 1500-2000 HP Cars Racing and running OEM Have never had issue running OEM.
