How do you close the trunk without touching the paint?

I've been closing it by putting my fingers on the bowtie. Hey, it's replaceable, right? But i just read that it's only glued on so that's probably not a good idea. So any of you guys found a way a good way to close it?

I use the bowtie also, but it doesnt take much pressure to close the trunk so it should be safe enough.

I touch the vinyl graphics or use my forearm instead of touching with my hand. Black paint shows fingerprints easy.

I've used the bowtie for almost 20k miles without issue. My bowtie has the posts which may make it more solid though.

I think the oil from my skin will eventually eat away at the vinyl the same way it does with paint, plus there's no protective wax on the vinyl. (I'm thinking 10-20 years down the road here)

I use a microfiber towel or the bowtie.

Don't take offence, but I think you're being overly careful....just close it gently with your hand...you'll be fine.

It's a car....yes, a beautiful, unique car, a throwback to the '69 beast...but it's a car. Close it with your hands

I use the bowtie, but if you're really concerned, you could add a slight modification to your trunk that I had in an old jag. It was a leather loop attached to the inside of the trunk lid, that you could pull down on to start the trunk closing, and pulled with the right force, it would totally close the trunk to a locked down position. It was very convenient.

I use the black rubber stops on the underside of the deck lid.
