Oil cooler failure/leaking.
So is the oem oil cooler known for failure/leaks?
Someone bought my old cooler because if theirs failing. Didn't know if this was common because if it was I'd like to get something started so GM knows of a design flaw.

Yes I have heard this is an issue. While mine has not started leaking yet(knock on wood) I have heard that many of them do. In fact when I had my car at lethal a few years back they said my car was the first one that came in and the cooler was not leaking. I have also heard that it is not a very effective cooler either.

Mine did, L99, and was fixed under warranty and zero issues since. I may have had about 23k miles on it.

You have an iron 6.0 like I do. I had to install an oil cooler with a fan to keep from heating up when daily driving. I have the stock one somewhere in the garage

Was there even much of a difference in oil temps after taking it off?

Takes longer for the oil to warm up.

So eliminating the oil cooler makes it warm up slower?

That's what the factory piece is there for imo. To warm up the oil quicker for emissions

Had mine fixed under warranty 3 years ago and haven't had a problem since. They put a new cooler on and all new gaskets along with a new oil pan gasket cause that was leaking also.

My cooler leaked and ultimately broke and oiled a track down.
Fixed under warranty, but I pulled it off and gave it to BH.
