The 45
So here is the start of it all. I managed to get a 2012 SS 45th Edition Camaro down in Georgia while visiting my family after I got back from Afghanistan. As I was pulling onto 85 North I managed to merge onto the highway at 95 mph (believe me, not intentionally) and thought to myself whoa, what did I get myself into now. I made it up to Virginia Beach, Va where I am stationed and enjoyed getting to know my car more. After talking with a buddy of mine who had a 2010 camaro, I started looking more and more into upgrades for it. First step was to get a dyno done to see what I was working with. Here are the results of that. But first, the video
So as you can see, not what I was expecting. No big deal right, this is just a base line. I shopped around for a long time on what type of CAI I was going to get, lots and lots of looking around on this site and seeing different videos on YouTube I narrowed it down to Cold Air Inductions. So I ordered it through them and have been waiting on it to come in (more to follow a little bit later). Lets get into some exhaust, after countless hours researching and finding videos that worked properly I ended up going with the Corsa exhaust system just because I found three videos that seemed perfect for me and it made the exact sound I was looking for, nice, deep growl. I ordered them through phastek performance on a Wednesday and they arrived on a Monday (thank you for such a quick turnaround guys). Installed them that day and they sound magnificent. I was trying to get a good enough video but the sound keeps getting hit, I will have to use my "other" system to record the sound because you don't see any excellent videos with good sound quality, so please excuse that part. Here is a before and after. Stock Corsa Definitely happy with the new sound by the way. So, about this CAI I have been patiently waiting on. I purchased it on 6/18/12 and was really excited. A week and a half gone by and it was still "processing" so I called them up on 6/27/12 to ask whats up and they told me that they need new powder coat because there was something wrong with the what they had and that it "should" ship out the next week (4th of july time frame). I ended up calling them again on 7/9/12 (Monday) to see what was going on now and they told me that it should ship out in the next 48 hours and I "should" get it Friday. Which it did. Awesome right? I watched it through FedEx travel all the way down here to Virginia Beach and out for delivery. Cant wait. Had tools out and everything ready to knock this out. Come 1800 I noticed that there was a "problem with delivery" on FedEx website and I called them up to ask what was going on, The lady told me to verify my address and then she said "oh that's what happen, they (CAI) didn't put your apartment number on here. Oh, OK, well no problem I will just come pick it up, "Well sir, our office closed at 1800 and they wont open until Monday. AHHHHHHH So after I said a few choice words yesterday I calmed down enough to think it could be worse. So, Monday that should come in and I will have some before and after shots of that as well. After the install we will get it back up on the dyno and get some numbers on it, (should be better since I have been putting some more miles on it and its not 100 degrees here any more). Up next will probably be the Kooks 1- 7/8 headers with ceramic coating and I will keep everyone posted. Thanks for listening and KCCO. |

I think your numbers are on par with a stock dyno, you used premium right? Also if the car is brand new, it wakes up a little after break in and the first oil change.
Good choices, I am definitely going with CAI incs CAI, sucks about the shipping. At least you didnt have to wait on shipping for your actual car haha. |
