Gills
In some of the pictures (possibly just the concept) I've seen where the gills are actual holes (slits) but in other pictures (I think maybe production only) the gills are simply dimples in the metal, there arent actually any holes there. Can anyone verify for sure which way it is on the production car?
Having a true slit (opening in the metal) makes the car look really interesting but simply having a dimple in the metal looks crappy in my opinion. I know its going to sound silly but if the production car only has a dimple then it will be a pretty big turn off for me. I think I'd have to look into having someone cut holes in the body after I got it (although I hate the thought of additional costs and I like keeping things stock). |

Just dimples...much like the SS front hood scoop...non-functional.

Cutting the slots out of the car will bennifit you nothing. . . the only thing it will do is let "crude" inside the rear quearter and start rotting it out. . .

Some of the pictures have black vinyl on the slits to make them look open, but they aren't open either. The cutting would be a sure opportunity for a rust problem.

Didnt the 69's have true slots? I'm not an expert on them but in some of the pictures I've seen I thought they were really holes not dimples.

Its more of an asthetics thing for me. It just looks more bad ass whether or not its actually functional. Thanks for the info.

you are going to have a very hard time getting that quarterpanel as an aftermarket peice because it is VERY deep, (like 20 inches) and very long. it is also a very importan Structural component. so you could have horrible side effects from cutting it. frame rigidity being a prime concern. Another being that you are letting things into the interior of the car. aswell as the fact there are beams directly behind it from what all told us at indy so you wouldnt be able to fit anything through for venting anyways
