It happened on my car this evening. 2SS VIN 8327. The message came up on the DIC and the Drivers side window would not go up or down. I thought well I will look in the manual. I turned it off then thought let me put her up in the garage. After getting in the garage the message was still there and for grins I hit the down button and whatdya know the window goes down. Then up and it works fine now. Just one of those quirky things. If it happens again I'll stop by the dealer and see what they say.

we had our windows tinted and because of the indexing, it started to peel the next day, so before I took it in for them to re-do that window, I decided to removed the fuse for the Driver's window. that should work right? Yeah that didn't work, it caused the problem with the door open and window up, the glass was hitting the weather stripping. re-setting the window as described worked. I think the window indexing is great to keep out road noise at higher speed, but boy it scared me at first, and PK was not happy i was "messing her car up".

the fix for the peeling tint was they heated the window from the outside with a heat gun to activate the glue, and no problem.

I have had to reset my driver’s side window once. Think it was the first week I got it. Have not had any problems since...

my G6 has the indexing windows, and not too long ago the passenger side stopped indexing. Its an awful sound when someone closes the door with any force when the windows doesn't index right.

I found that the only way I could get my car to reset the feature for that window correctly was to pull the power window fuse to force reset the system then reset the indexing for all the windows.

To reset the window indexing mode you must do the following.
Hold the window up button for 10 seconds, then release. Do this 3 x's and it will reset the system. Same as Pontiac G6 and Corvette.

Chalking it up to just one of those things. As you probably saw on page 1-16 of the owners manual how to re-program the indexing. If I have problems again, I'll try that. If it continues I'll see the dealer. I really don't want anyone removing the the door panel if I can avoid it.
My Camaro did exact same thing but on the passenger side window about a week and a half ago. Since then everything has worked fine no issues at all.

BTW, thanks for the info. Hopefully it will not continue and if so, an easy and quick fix.
I'm on it!

I had this same thing happen yesterday. Not that big of a deal, IMO. I did what the DIC said to do, Open, then close the passenger window... and who woulda guessed it, the damn thing worked again!!! Lo and behold if the message also disappeared from the DIC and all was glorious in Camaroland!!!!!

I had the same problem over the weekend. Sounds exactly the same. The indexing did not work. The window would not go up or down (the passenger window). Had a problem closing the door. Turned off the car waited a while and then reset the indexing.

Same here, same door. Reset itself on the third restart. Chalking it up as a minor glitch.

Reviving this post as I have been having this issue recently ...

it seems as almost every time I start the car lately (past 2 weeks), the "open, then close the drivers (or) passengers window warning happens.

I have also noticed that sometimes it takes a second to start or clicks a few times before starting up.

I took it to the dealer and they couldn't find anything on the clicking but they reflashed the computer to clear the window issue...one day later, it the issue continued.

I am thinking the two might be related...anyone else have this issue?

I found this thread tonight as I had the same issue..Decided to take the car out for a quick spin, however the battery was dead. I gave it a charge and then the window issue. Tomorrow I will go out and see if I can correct the index on them...sure do hope so.

I have a 2011 that had had indexing issues since I bought the car. The dealer blames the tint but we both know the tint isn't the problem it is GM's crappy engineering. Now that I found the index re-program info I will start fixing myself, and forego the hassle of my crappy dealer.

My first Camaro in 22 years, and I get a crappy dealer to work with... yikes
