Arrival time of Camaros to dealerships
Hey, my salesman at the chevy dealer said that my Camaro should be coming in around March/April of 2009. I was just wondering if this is true because i know GM is having financial problems right now. Can someone let me know what the deal is and when the Camaro should really be coming into dealerships

I don't want to piss on anyone's wheaties, but I don't think a dealer can say at this point with any accuracy when any Camaro is coming in. There has been a lot of good guessing on this site (based on what Oshawa can produce, past history, etc). But, I wouldn't take anything as gospel until we start getting expected production weeks for orders that were taken. I certainly hope that the first pre-ordered ~7800 cars make it to dealers within the first two months or so.

But March/April 2009 is the most likely time for Camaro's to be hitting lots. As for GM's money problems, so long as they aren't liquidating they will be delivering Camaro's on schedule.

Unless they changed or do change it...
Monday February 16th, 2009 is the first day of production. Add processing, loading, and transportation time to your destination from Oshawa. Depends on where you are in line as well. Other things like batches of certain colors perhaps. |

GM has almost 8000 sold units. They want to get this car out ASAP to start getting a return on investment. I don't foresee any delays with the Camaro program.

What if GM goes back to congress and they say: OK, you can have your money, but the Camaro sends the wrong message from what we want and you must scrap the Camaro program if you want our money.
Will GM turn down the money, or hand the reigns of the business over to government?

So do you guys think this is when we'll start seeing them in dealership showrooms too(March/April)? I won't be getting one until June but I can't wait until a dealer around here gets one so I can make a stop over there every week to look at it. Or do you think all of the early ones are going to get sold right away so there won't be any on display?

You may very well see lots cars first and then you could go look at them (provided they don't sell quick). I would think, just my thoughts, that the first orders will be sold units only and it will be summer time (July/August) before lot cars are around. There will be the one or two sold cars on the lots that folks won't end up buying but don't beleive there will be many and those that are around will be gone quickly I think. We ar all hoping to see our cars in Mar/Apr but right now, we honestly just don't know. |
