Can't Make up my mind... Sell me on Camaro!

I'm here to learn, and make an educated buying decision. Not make a point. But can someone explain to me how a camaro is worth over $31,000?

You can rock a Mustang GT or Dodge Challenger R/T for $27,000 since dealers are actually willing to negotiate on that car, unlike the Camaro, and for comparison they get the same gas mileage on V-8 models, the Mustang out-handles the Camaro hands down. The Challenger R/T in fact gets 29 mpg highwway to the camaros 24 (manual).

What makes the Camaro worth over 31K, for an American, RWD muscle car?! These cars have never in the past cost as much as baseline luxary cars as the camaro does.

In this price range, I find the Audi A4 Quattro, Nissan 370z, Saab 9-3 (FWD) more appealing.

I'm NOT bashing GM, or the Camaro. I LOVE the camaro, but I don't see how it's worth what they are asking. I can't can't see spending so much for the V8. And I'm sure as hell not buying the slower of the 2 trimlines...

Is GM price gouging this car? Is it worth 31K? It seems to me the competitiion just gives ya more.

Spend an extra 3 grand to go .5 seconds faster than a Mustang GT... really???

The GT Premium is $30,995. The 1SS is $31,000. 0.5 Seconds is a lot of difference, may not seem like it on paper but you'd see the difference on a track/strip. The L99 Camaro gets 29/HWY if you are looking for economic factors. Performance wise, the Camaro will outdo basically everything in it's price range with the Challenger being too heavy, and the rest just underpowered. The reason why it's not negotiable price wise is that it is arguably the hottest car on the road right now.

But it comes down to opinion and budget. If you want the more retro car, I'd go with the R/T. If you are going for performance, get the SS, and it's the better looking car IMHO. And if you're just a Ford Fan, wait until 2011 before you get a GT.

Did I quote you or direct it towards you? Did I mention your name? It was something for others to read before this thread takes a downturn like others of this type.

Nah nah, I didn't catch any flaming in there. I apreciate the replys. But honestly, Now you start comparing the GT Premium to the 1SS... The GT Premium is giving you so much more for your money is it not?

I really feel the 1SS should be 27K and the 2SS should be 30K-31K.

Is the price tag ALL the 'gotta have it factor' ?

Well, it would be a little of that "gotta have it factor", but you also get the extra performance out of it. True I guess the Premium would be loaded out, but it's still not as quick lol

But like I said, it really just depends on what you want out of the car... what are you looking for? Features, Performance, Looks?

Performance, Performance, Performance... And Looks.

And by that logic the 370z wins hands down. But let's forget that for a minute.

is .5 faster 0-60 worth $3,000 - $4,000 more? You guys know all about performance tuning a car, but I doubt any of you would spend that much for that modest a speed increase, eh?

Well the SS outperforms the 370z in performance the last time I checked. The 1/4 in the 370z was 13.3 and 4.7 0-60, according to MotorTrend. The Auto SS beats both times. Looks is total opinion, but I just don't see the Z pulling as much attention as the Camaro is getting right now. But it's really just what brand your loyal too I guess.

But another option could be a low mileage Corvette in the same price range or less , Just a thought

I saw that lol. I got an Automatic as well, I would of gotten a manual but can't stand the shifting in the city, plus I've always heard Automatics are better for Drags.

How about we talk actual speed records instead of horsepower, torque and weights, as they are meaningless until track tested, right?

Performance to ME is not just acceleration. It is also handling.

And a muscle car can not out handle a roadster/sports car.
Anyway, the 370z can go 0-60 in 4.7 seconds. Can a Camaro at over $1,000 more even touch that? No.

Which is why I just think GM is price gouging it a little.

Tell me if I'm wrong, but I see the 370z as the performance winner in the 30k category.
