not to mention it is pretty damn fast around the curves as well.

Fast with luxury can be done and yes I am one of those that doesn't want a 1969 z/28 any more I want those items and I want the speed as well.
and we all know it can be done and can be done well.

a 1LE 2SS could have easily been done with this engine and many many more would have been happier.
the super limited stripped car with a heavy price tag isnt going to make it a car that sees the track.
But the GTR is really ugly.

A LS7 or LSX option for the SS and a Appearance Package is what Chevy should have done. Not the poor excuse for a Z/28 that they produced......

Don't forget the $40k price difference between a GTR and Z/28.
You can buy a Z/28 and 1LE for the price of a GTR

Personal opinion.... I hate the C7 but you clearly love it for some reason. Despite the Viper headlights, GT-R side profile etc....

It has (or most likely will- if not confirmed), in no particular order...

-power steering (variable assist electric)
-power brakes
-power mirrors
-ABS
-power windows (express up/down)
-power locks
-power trunk
-keyless entry w/panic alarm
-tilt steering
-telescoping steering
-cruise control
-4 seats
-6 airbags
-2 cupholders
-12V power outlet
-stability/traction control (if you're silly enough to keep them on in this car)
-radio with CD/MP3 player, AM/FM, XM, auto-volume, 6-page preset menu, 3-band EQ, 10-minute on-after-key-off feature, anti-theft, and one decent speaker
-steering wheel mounted controls
-configurable lock/unlock and horn/light settings
-automatic headlights
-2 trip odometers
-compass
-exterior temp gauge
-average mileage/speed displays
-message center
-delayed courtesy light
-heater/defroster
-rear defroster
-air conditioning (if you want it)
-cabin air filter
-huge trunk (albeit with a comically small opening)
-glove box (lockable)
-door panel storage
-center arm rest/storage
-console front storage tray
-alarm
-auto-dimming rear view mirror
-variable intermittent wipers
-windshield washer
-OnStar with lock-out protection, turn-by-turn, theft tracking, and emergency response
-a full GM warranty
-and a partridge in a pear tree

There may or may not be a couple things I forgot.

Some of you sissies need to quit whining, this thing does everything but wash the dishes for you.
Just my not-quite-humble opinion.

.
So they keep things like power steering, cruise control, power locks and windows, carpet, rear defroster and call it a pure breed track car, true to heritage Z/28, only for real men yada yada.

Comical

But hey they dont need 8 speakers (they even took the speaker wires out!), the gauge pack and lets keep a/c optional, but cruise control and automatic headlights? No way we have to have those! Makes no sense.

There's a lot more to the Z/28 than a stripped SS. I'm not going to try to sell you the car, but what you're asking is unreasonable. The LSX is not for production cars, and the LS7 is included in the Z/28, along with a different suspension and lots of other goodies. I wouldn't call the racecar that we now call a Z/28 a poor excuse for anything.

Personally, I love that people don't "get" the Z/28. That makes it that much better for those who do. Though I am probably not in the market due to cost, it is great that Chevrolet is building a car like this, that doesn't need to appeal to everyone, doesn't need to meet all the normal feature/NVH requirements because of one thing: track speed. We don't know the price, and I certainly wish it were more attainable, but it is awesome that there seems to be a Camaro for everyone. If you don't "get" the Z/28, then there is the ZL1 or the SS, both great cars as well.

Not every car is for everyone. I won't be able to swing it either and will shortly be in the market for a used SS instead.

I think every Z28 since 73 has been a poor excuse for a Z/28 until this one.

I owned 2 early Z-28s, a 69, which I should have kept forever, and a 70, they were both perfect for me at that time. I am just as sure this new Z28 will be perfect for someone other than me now. So glad I have a 13 ZL1, we gotta live for now!
