A New 2011 2SS

New member and I wanted to share that this week I special ordered a 2011 Camaro SS with the 2SS option package, Red Jewel Tintcoat paint, and the following additional options.

Model Description; 1ET37; Camaro 2SS

Option Code

GAQ; Red Jewel Tintcoat Paint
KAE; Hurst Short-Throw Shifter
VQL; Satin Nickel Finish Fuel Door
VRV; Quarter Flares
VYX; Body-Color Painted Engine Cover
Q9J; 20" Polished Aluminum Wheels
VYW; Premium Carpeted Floor Mats
VL1; Cargo Mat

Kind of cool that I can track the progress of the build on line as well.

This is my 3rd Camaro. I bought a '76 new after I graduated from college. In Nov 1991 I bought a '69 RS which I still have, it has been restored and is in the garage. In Jan 1995 I purchased new a '95 Z28 which has been my daily driver for the past 16 years - LT1, 6 speed, 3.73:1 posi rear. Back then the 6 speed manual was hard to come by. Good news now that it is the standard offering.

Interesting thing about the ordering process; I've been working with various dealerships on best pricing over the previous 3 weeks to ordering the car. I had exact dealer cost pricing on the 2SS and all options. I also knew what dealer holdback was plus 1% GM advertising so I knew exactly what the dealer cost was as well as dealer invoice (and they are definitely different) as well as MSRP. I spoke to dealerships in Carson City, NV; Reno, NV; Elko, NV; Kellog, ID; Sacramento, CA; Folsom, CA; and two in Las Vegas. Only one of the dealerships in Las Vegas was willing to negotiate in that grey area between actual dealer cost and dealer invoice. My argument was that the dealership had no variable cost in this car since I was coming to them with exactly what I wanted - all they had to do was process the paper. It was definitely worth taking the time to shop around. When the new SS is delivered to the dealership in Vegas, I will have to make the drive from Minden, NV down to Vegas (8 hrs) and it will be bittersweet to surrender the '95 Z28 to them, but it will be one hell of a ride coming home!

More later as we move forward.

Congrats and welcome! You won't regret the new wheels. The Gen 5 is awesome. I had a 69 SS 396 and this bad boy is so far ahead of that car it isn't funny. Both great cars but the new technology just enhances the retro look of the 2011.

I did the same thing; Basically, took about 1mos. to negotiate a price after I hit them up with all the facts. Basically, agreed on $2k markup on my 2010 2SS RS with GFX, IO interior, stripes.
We Canadians pay about $5k more for the privaledge of being able to afford a car (I think, haven't figured that out yet considering the vehicle is made in Oshawa, Ontario and I live about 40kms. away from the plant), but at least I didn't get burned for another $5k lining someone elses pockets.

...... especially after you read all the threads on why it doesn't perform they way you imagined it would, make your modifications and get all the limiters removed.

Hopefully you will have it by the 15th of April, and be able to join us in Chandler at the Fest... though you can join us even if the car isn't delivered to you yet...
